Great email on the update program Dan and Peter! Glad to see the feedback taken seriously, but not surprising given your overall responsiveness as a company. Text of the email below. Cheers

Dear customers,

Thank you for your interest in the ETHER Flow upgrade program.  This is an important program update.

The first batch of upgrades has gone very well so we will not need to adjust our pricing or program and will proceed full speed.

The first half of the upgrades have shipped, the balance will ship by mid-week next week.  You will receive a shipping notification with tracking when your order ships.  If you don’t see one by end of day on the 19th, be sure to check your spam folder.

Next Steps

1)  International customers in the UK, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Germany and Hong Kong may choose to order the upgrades through your local distributor who will collect all headphones to ship to us for upgrades in November. By shipping all units to a region at the same time we can reduce shipping costs, and hopefully minimize any duties (max duties are based on the upgrade cost not the headphone price, should this arise).  The distributors will have their upgrade programs in place over the next one to two weeks.  You may also order upgrades directly from MrSpeakers when your turn arises, it’s up to you.  Contact information for the distributors may be found at http://mrspeakers.com/where-to-buy/

2) All other customers will be notified when their turn comes up in the order queue.  We will send notifications for upgrades (besides international) in December for upgrades to commence in January.

Thanks again for your interest and your patience.  We hope you’ll enjoy your new headphones should you choose to upgrade!

Regards,

Dan and the MrSpeakers Team

Has pricing for the upgrade program been announced?

Yes, thanks for the update indeed Mr. Speakers team.

Just got the email as well.

But that is a long wait, on the other hand its great knowing a time frame instead of being in the dark.

Might consider just buying a new C Flow outright.

Cost of upgrade plus resale value of a 1.1 C is almost a wash. Compared to Flow C price.

Decisions...

Per Dan's 7/28/16 post:

Pricing:

Basic upgrade:  $349.99 + shipping
  1. Replace both drivers with new matched drivers**
  2. Add “FLOW” slider to headband
  3. Certificate of authenticity and SN registry entry

Full upgrade*:  $499.99 + shipping
  1. Replace both drivers**
  2. Add “FLOW” slider to headband
  3. Certificate of authenticity and SN registry entry
  4. Replace ear pads
  5. Replace ear cups or grills
  6. Convert open to closed and vice-versa (optional)
  7. Flow box

Special pricing for recent purchasers:
Basic upgrade if purchased between May 17, 2016 and July 15, 2016: $199.99 + shipping
Full upgrade if purchased between May 17, 2016 and July 15, 2016: $349.99 + shipping

Special pricing does not apply to units purchased after the announcement (due to price decrease of ETHER models) or to used headphones purchased in this time frame.  Proof of purchase is required to receive the special discount for headphones not purchased through the MrSpeakers website.

*Original Open ETHER headphones use silver bolts on the headband assembly, while ETHER C and both flow models use bronze-tinted bolts.  The bolts are not replaced for ETHER headphones, other than that upgraded headphones will be identical to new Flow headphones.

**In order to precision match drivers we will need to remove and replace one of the baffles.  If your headphone has visible damage to the metal baffle we will notify you and offer the option to replace the damaged part for additional expense.

Is there any difference between the Flow and non-Flow pads?

Is there any difference between the Flow and non-Flow pads?

They are made a bit differently but Dan said that it doesn't have an impact on the sound signature. The Flow pads use a thicker leather for better durability and have less foam inside to adjust for the added thickness. The normal Ether pads are "stuffed" while the Flow pads are not. This is my understanding but I could be incorrect.
