It's a sponsor thread.  Presumably someone will start a user thread with a review or after RMAF.

I am having this combo and I am looking for a change. I dont think the O2/ODAC is a good fit with Alpha. They sounds too bright for my taste, and not enough detail. it is probably under power.

So I finally received my o2 amp and it sounds really good to my ears hooked up directly to the analogue out of my bluray player. I don't doubt the opinions of more experienced enthusiasts that the ADs need more power to perform at their best but I'm very pleased. The "upgradeitus" will hit eventually and I'll probably end up with a lyr 2 but the o2 has not disappointed me in the least.

To my ears O2 and Odac are just fine. Some of slow music such as Jazz they perform well but some other complicated genres such as instruments, symphony, new age, they do not play greatly with my Alpha Dog. My past headphone was Sennheiser HD598. I can feel the bass and mid lack of something, not mention the treble sometimes can reveal some artifacts in the treble with some album with my Alpha Dog and that did not happen with my old HD598. I have not still had a chance to plug my Alpha Dog to reference high end DAC/AMP.

Based on the little bit that I know (based on a ton of reading) I cannot think of a better option for a portable amp for my AD in my scenario. I have the standalone O2 with batteries and while its large enough to be "clumsy" for truly portable use its not like I would be wearing my AD's in that way anyway. Even when I get a better home rig I'm sure I'll be very happy with my AD/o2 combo for long flights, road trips etc. especially if the 12+ hours of battery life is true.

On another related note, I got my o2 from JDS with the engraving and I'm absolutely thrilled with the results :)

I'm quite likely my AD/ODAC/O2 combo. The bass response in particular has been pretty enjoyable over my HD600's so far. They don't really have mercy on poorly recorded tracks, however (as they should).

Prime measurements posted on the Prime thread.

Dan,
Are you planning on offering an upgrade or tread-up plan for current AD owners?

  Dan,
Are you planning on offering an upgrade or tread-up plan for current AD owners?

Dan stated earlier that he would evaluate the feasibility of upgrades and let owners know in November.
