Most powerful headphone amp?

Sure, Pro iDSD can work then either as a DAC or DAC/preamp combo for your active speakers and its XLRs output 4V. Thanks!
Thank you very much. I am just confused because, ATC SCM40A says it has a input sensitivity of 1V. Maybe I should use attenuators after the idsd

Perhaps that's the case, yes. But just to make sure I'd ask at ATC directly if I were you. They should know what signal their speakers should see ideally. Hope this helps, thanks!

And also power doesn't necessarily translate well in sound.

In general it doesn't, but can be beneficial for very tough loads. Folks who use Susvara with regular speaker amps are very happy with that pairing :)

Further reading on google hints the 1V as a +2.2dBu(1V) So the 4V is pretty high for my active speakers(built in A/B poweramp)...

Solution: Attenuator that lowers the 4V output to 1V?

Kinda curious how my Manley Labs 300B pre-amp stacks up power wise. These are the official specs:

  • Maximum Output Level: 17.2dBu or 5.636 Vrms @ 1KHz, volume control at maximum
  • Output Power (100 Ohm Headphones): 1W (10 V RMS) (28 V P-P)
  • Output Power (600 Ohm Headphones): 1W( 25 V RMS) (70 V P-P)

It has a selectable switch for 30-400 Ohms and 300-400 Ohms. I use the 30-400 with my HD800S and the volume knob rarely goes above 11 o'clock.

Makes me wonder if it can power monsters like the Susvara et al at their best.

As an aside, I plan to use my WOO WEE energiser with my Densen amp (around 130-140 watts RMS, although the first 10 or so are in Class A which is nice) to power my STAX SR-009 when they are back from repair. Plenty of juice there.

Paltauf HPA-100 / HPA-100 SP is pretty powerful.

Max. Output voltage 70 Vpp

600 Ohm 1 Watt
120 Ohm 5,4 Watt
32 Ohm 20 Watt
15 Ohm 35 Watt
8 Ohm 70 Watt

In the Susvara thread, a lot of users are happy with this amp.

could you point where owners of that amp share some feedback, as i barely see anything bout it on the susvara thread

Strange? When I made that post I was sure there were posts in the Susvara thread pointing to this amp, therefore the said post. Now I could not find them...
You could do "Paltauf" or "HPA-100" as your search string.

Anyway you can go also to this thread on another forum.

I can put a jumper across the resistor than lowers the power going to the headphone jack and get 50 watts going into my headphones. That makes my Emotiva BasX A-100 a mighty headphone amp. Never done that but it's nice to have that option if I needed it.

From this I gather that your Emotiva uses the same circuit to drive speakers and headphones, doesn't it?

Yes, it drives speakers as well. 50 watts into 8 ohms, 80 watts into four ohms. It's built like a tank. I think it weights 12 pounds. I wouldn't want to drop it on my foot.

So it's still watts into 32 and 64 ohms, which should make i.e. Susvara or HE-6 very happy :)
