Most exellent video game music

To me the game soundtrack that stands out in my head is the one from Lumines on PSP. My wife liked it when I was playing and it was hooked up to speakers.

And when looking for good oldschool tunes, a Commodore 64 game called Fist II is great! As a kid I remember stopping playing the game at the times and just listen the music. All three, wilderness, cave and the building tunes are good with nice oriental tunes. And anyone remember the C64 tape loader songs played in OCEAN's tape format games? They are also good. And one instant hit for me was from the Last Ninja game (both C64 and Amiga), first level music. International Karate+ amiga versions music is also really good.

Its great that almost all music from majority of Commodore 64 games are downloadable in SID format from the internet, playable in Winamp with SID plugin which simulates the original music processor of C64. Sweet!

That's one of the few game soundtrack that I'll listen to outside of the game. I listen to it while driving. It makes the car go faster.

And Star Control II. This had what was, at the time, bleeding edge .MOD format music. Awesome. It was generated almost as an afterthought via a public contest.

The music was great, but the best thing was that you could edit the tracks yourself, and make kickass remixes. (I thought they were kickass at the time!)

I like Silent Hill series, Silent Hill 3 is well recorded.

Metal Gear Solid series is not bad.

Final Fantasy VII:Advent Children is okay.

The piano version of Final Fantasy X is good.

Ace Combat 5 is not bad either.

Looking forward to Silent Hill:Home Coming.
