I am so excited for the new Variations.
Me too…

Personally I hope Moondrop chose Air/Dusk tuning and not the original Blessing2 tuning.

Seeing the graph of the "Variations" do make me hesitate in how well the treble will be presented. Seems like there is a steep roll off after the 9k peak, which is quite similar to the treble roll off seen in the Blessing 2 after 8Khz.

I hope they can really utilize the Sonion ESTs to bring out that superior treble other companies are bringing forth, as well as adding some technical layering, imaging, and definition above what the Blessing 2/Dusk has shown to be capable of.
Herbert (Moondrop's CEO) posted a graph on their discord for the "Variations":

Dunno if it's just a prototype or final tuning, but FR-wise it follows their traditional harman-ish target.

And also their new ultra-budget (~$10 USD):

Reminds me of Solais. I think it's due to EST drivers. Difficult to tune them due to their wild response of ESTs.

Shure KSE1200 has a scoop up top as well. But, Shure is electrostatic drivers, not electret.

I thought all electrostatic drivers in iem were essentially electret? Or no?

Let's hope that it will sound great though :)

Releasing status?

I guess Moondrop is advancing toward new hot zone $450-550. The EST hot spots with Thieaudio brothers Oracle/Excalibur, DUNU EST112, TRI Starshine, and many other smaller boutique shops. Also KZ seemed is marching toward first affordable EST project too.

I personally found Dusk is one of best tuned IEM around, and really longed for EST and LCP to coup the only weakness of Dusk, “treble response/smoothness/extension & better resonance and transients /textures on bass ~ sub-bass.”. It seems treble concern is gone. So Blessing(shell) EST project may become “B-EST” one to choose for $450-550 EST hot zone! Since B2 is 1999CNY, and seeing other competitors, 2888CNY =449USD & 2999CNY =466USD sounds like a plan(wink* 😉 wink*). I know Chinese love number 888.

For headfiers, here are some interesting datasheet of Sonion’s EST driver, which most likely will be packaged with Blessing-EST, just to share the basic measurements and specs:
@MOONDROP Thank you for considering 2999CNY/ 466USD for Variations! Can’t wait for 6/18!
[Edit] ah…international price is $520😭 ok whatever..
