IMO, I would suggest putting the foam back and napkin on top so the driver has some room to breathe.  It will also help with some rear reflections.

I A/B'ed with and without the foam and I ended up preferring the foam more (I kept the grill open and I just swapped the foam on and off while listening to different songs). This is dependent on personal taste but I believe the foam gives more balanced sound overall and tighter bass.

There's plenty of cheap balanced MMCX cables available and for $30 you can get a balanced trrs to xlr 4-pin adapter.....

So I'm confused. When I hear the term balanced cables I think of them terminating in a 4 pin XLR. So you can have balanced cables that end in a single 3.5 mm or 1/4 in?
Also does that 4 pin XLR to 3.5mm adapter really sound the same vs. a cable wired to the 4 pin?

They are called TRRS, or 4 pole: 3.5mm, 2.5mm or Sony's new 4.4mm are examples of that.  It's still 4 pin, but instead of pin's its rings on the jack itself.  so typical stereo 3.5mm for example have 2 rings, a 4 pole has 3 rings.
I personally don't like having to use any adapters and probably there can be measured result where an adapter degrades the signal/sound.

Shameless plug, have a proper ediolic mmcx to true 4 pin XLR FS :)  Made it on Friday night. See my post on this thread.

Awesome. Thanks for the explanation.

Im very new to balanced cables and its benefits so, do i get any benefits if i plug balanced cable to unbalanced amp?

Nope, the benefits of a balanced setup is have 4 discrete amplifiers in your headphone amp instead of two. Having 4 means that each side has a + and a - amplifier. The + amp pushes current while the - amp pulls current. This is how most speaker amplifiers work and it causes less distortion than just pushing or pulling alone (think of it like pushing water through pipes, goes much smoother with a pump on both ends). In a regular headphone amplifier you only have an amp that pushes current, and both are returned via a common ground, causing interference between the channels.

By adapting a balanced cable to a single ended headphone amplifier, you're just replacing the L- and R- conductors with a common ground, exactly the same as an unbalanced cable. Balanced benefits are all in the amplifier.

After installing the Vegan Pads the sound is definitely darker. I decided to try the paper towel Mod. A lot of the life came back. I didn't like the look, so I cut come thin very porous black cloth to put over the paper towel under the grill. I think it actually improved them even more. I would post pictures, but I don't think I am allowed being a new member.

I placed the paper towel under the foam and it gave me the same effect, at least to my ears. it will be interesting to see if it makes a difference (on or under) since hiding it under is more practical.

I think that would work. What I used was some old Speaker grill cloth that I had laying around. I think the sound with the Vegans and the Mods makes the overall sound more refined. No I can't define refined. I loved them stock, but now they are even better.
