So what is a good stretch? I'm pretty tapped out from other stereo stuff, I can swing a 109 Pro. That more a wife issue than money issue. So the usual question of is this good enough or is "next" worth it... Focal Radiance, Senn 800/800s/820? Liric not so much because I really prefer open HPs. What say you?

Just got the 109s in the mail today. $675 open box like new from Crutchfield. So not sure how many hours these have on them. That said, my initial impressions are heightened mid range which can be a tad sibilant in the upper registers at times. There is more resolution than my Sundaras but with a sacrifice in smoothness. This is through a Schiit Heretic and Modi. I’ve got the Sundaras on the highest gain setting and the 109s on medium gain. The bass is more aenemic on thr 109s than my Sundaras. Not as full or as much spam. At the moment I’m preferring my Sundaras. These 109s feel less “fun” less V shaped than my Sundaras. I’m using the same cable for both headphones, a single ended Hart Audio cable.
Wait: Am I your buddy, Seb? I just bought the LCD-X 2021, love it and want something of a different flavor for another can. I'm considering ... the 109 Pro and the Aeolus. Keeping a sharp eye on this thread!
hi... is there any review comparison against edition xs?
currently want to change edition xs , using it for months and dont really have any complain sound wise, but comfort wise is really too loose for me (its a bit better after change to dekoni pad but still not that comfortable)

This sounds awful to do but bend the headband for more clamp. Basically you loop it in on itself and it should solve the issue. I've done this many times and even with my XS.

I can't compare the 109 Pro with headphones I've not heard, but having lived with them for a couple of months, I think the big advantage the 109 Pro has over its competitors is driveability. Most planars love high-current SS amping, and power hungry dynamics come alive with tubes. Both of those tend to not be portable solutions. The 109 Pro delivers similar performance to other under kilobuck cans, but they get all the power they need from a dongle or DAP. (And the spicy treble benefits from EQ, which is a lot more commonly found in portable applications.)
Anyone compare these to aurorus borealis? resolve review seems to think they sound close, as the driver looks very similar in geometry, although the diaphragm material is different
