Meze 99 Classics Discussion + Impressions Thread

Recently got that $100 Meze balanced cable. I actually prefer the sound over the aftermarket Silver cable I had on, sound wise.

The Sheepskins push the drivers a bit farther away so bass has time to develop a bit more, doesn't sound as punchy since they aren't right up on your ears but bass bloat is eliminated.

Thanks all for the multiple recommendations on the Brainwavz sheepskins. I've ordered them; they should arrive in 2-3 days. I'll probably wait a week or two before reporting back on my impressions, but if anyone else has any other recommendations in the meantime let me know.

I actually kinda enjoyed Shure 1540 pads on the 99C, they sealed well for being Alcantara. Ultimately I put them on my Arctis 3 gaming headset and it's fantastic

Care to try Yaxi stPad2?

I tried briefly at a store (locally) and they were, in my view, quite good and I actually wanted to purchase them but they were out of stock (save for the demo unit).

Would be interested to hear your view given that you have tried many.

Now THOSE are interesting. I've got a fair number of pads, but none of them are functionally like attaching a speaker cone to your head. I'm also rather interested that they tout a reduction in ear fatigue, which I do experience after an hour or two with the 99C's and ATH-M50x's. I've ordered the Yaxi's out of curiosity, but they aren't estimated to arrive for another month (economy shipping from overseas). I'll post my impressions once I've been able to try them for a week or two. Thanks for the heads up on those.
