I was all hyped up until i saw screen size. Another microwave sized dap... Looks really nice though.
I really hope this is not going to be a long term trend.
It just dont make sense to me with all those tv screens. You need a ak4499 to watch tiktok now?

I guess audiophiles dont have smartphones so they need fancy dap screens
M8 ergonomics where very good for my use. If M9 follows the same trend I am good with that.

Also M8 was my all time favorite dap after 1z I think I will definitely get M9 to see if it have fixed everything that M8 should of had.
So M9 is maybe the perfect M8?

I'm afraid that ship has sailed. Mere music playback isn't enough for the intended (already shrinking) market. Increasingly, a device needs to offer the ability to watch Youtube, surf the web, check email (do people still use email outside of work? hahaha), etc. Not to mention music streaming services.

I'm with the curmudgeonly-inclined here: I don't stream, and when I listen to music, for the most part, I want to disconnect. I don't want to watch video, nor keep up with what is happening. My phone is 99% used purely for (gasp!!) calling (voice & video conferencing) and texting.

It is what it is. If I ever want a modern DAP, I'll need to overcome my biases/strong opinions. I have previously spent thousand$ on A&K DAPs (nothing since the AK380 though), and I simply don't have the appetite for spending like that on music playback devices (especially battery-powered with built-in short, relatively speaking, lifespans). Something's gotta give, and if I had to guess, for me, I'll wind up relenting and go the dongle route with my phone....as much as I despise the thought.

This is why I still like my Questyle QP1R and QP2R daps. No connectivity and no android; just music from local storage.

well, fiio is really a threat… its a universally loved brand. i cannot say it for ibasso.

HAHAHA - challenge accepted? I am just kidding, the M0 already is a warm device and is 100% perfect as-is, but - I wouldn't mind buying another possible "pro" or 2021 updated model with maybe a little more polish, such as adding a chip capable of a few more features. I would love a little more advanced EQ system which is currently not possible from what I remember. Possibly a little more "grunt" or power that the M3X might be pushing.

If the sound is as good as its looks, it is worth trying it!
Like many headfiers, I'm interested in the sound and not in the stream. I really hope that in the near future some of these big companies find a niche for a portable product focused on maximizing the sound!

At this moment the picture is quite opposite, Fiio is not able to keep up with Shaling - The reason IMHO is AKM factory shutdown due to a devastating fire, Almost 95% of Fiio's offering comes with AKM chip - Hense a very very limited number of Fiio M11 Plus LTD is available for purchase - Fiio already calculates this so they add the name 'Limited'. Very limited or no supply of BTA30.....Also, where is the upgrade from BTR5 - They aren't even able to publish any product design picture till date. Still no news for K9 Pro....Almost no Q5s - Probably discontinued / End of the Line.

On the other hand, due to lack of any real competition, Shngling M3X sees a huge success - unchallenged market slot open up for them, UP5 a next BTR5 upgrade also start circulating and it will available soon as per listing as pre-order several vendors.
