I'm coming from ATH-700's.
 
I mainly listen to Electronica/Dance/Hip-hop/ & 80's Hard Rock/Metal
 
Trying to decide which to get.
 
I like good strong accurate deep bass which some punch, good vocal presence, and treble that tingles my spine.  I like a good sound-stage, meaning I could use a little more "directness" than the ATH-700's but I also don't want it too narrow, somewhere in-between.
 
Basically I want to be wowed, I want to feel like I'm in the club, for the sound to be fun.

I have not heard the ultrasones, but I have heard the m50's
From what I've heard, the ultrasones are pretty much better than the m50's all around except they have slightly less bass and have a much bigger soundstage than the m50. The m50's soundstage is nowhere near as big as the AD700's.

The HFI 580 has much more bass potential than the M50 even though the M50 has more bass when flat. Plug it through a good linear phase EQ or a Cowon DAP and you've got no hell of a basshead headphone that has a lot of clarity.
 
The poll is rather useless since it's more of a popularity contest. The HFI 580 has only recently started to gain popularity.

Hey i just noticed the 680s are 10 bucks cheaper, should i get those?
 
580s: 50mm Mylar Driver
680s: 40mm Gold Plated Driver

I believe the 680 is better but should be paired with an amp whereas the 580 does not need to be.

Just bought the 680's.  I'll post results when I get them   Running a Xonar DG with headamp for now, it will probably just barely be enough to push them, but plan to get a dac/amp soon too.
