LZ A7 IEM's impressions and reviews thread

So Riku, is it just close in price or does the A4 Pro hold it’s own against the A7 sound wise? If they were able to keep the house sound and attributes of the A7 I’ll probably not be deterred. I still never hesitate to grab my original A4’s because imho the A7 is not that big a leap Over the 7’s:thinking:
It is close in price, but technically they are not in the same league. And tonality is less versatile, it doesn't fit my library that well but is suited for R&B and can work with rock/metal.

(you can get the a7 for less than the a4 pro on 11/11 as well....)

(FIY; I am using the Black filter + black vent config)

If you got the A7 already, then I guess that might change things though. Those 2 (A7 red and gold) filters do wonders for the A4 Pro.

(But since you can only get them with the A7, I will not factor in this in my review, I will mention them though.=

It took me a bit to find the sweet spot with my A4 pro's, but it was worth it once I found it.
I really didn't like them out of the box with the black/black filters, but thankfully LZ makes all of the iem's super adjustable.
To me, I found my perfect sound by using the red bass filter and the gold front filter and with comply audio pro foam tips. Now they sound like an A6 with better bass to me. They're very detailed, with excellent mids and awesome bass.
I feel like they compliment the A7, instead of compete with them.

So I've been using the LZ A7 for a good while and still absolutely love them. I've been looking at the 7Hz Timeless and been wondering how the two compare to eachother. Can anyone chime in? I know it's a bit of a difficult comparison due to all the filters and the switch on the LZ A7 but just to get a base idea if the Timeless does anything better.

The 7Hz Timeless has been mentioned a bit recently, over on "The Discovery Thread!" - so you might ask there, to see if someone has both earphones.

Not only the switches and filters make a difference, but comparing a tribid with piezos to a pure planar like the Timeless is an apples to oranges comparison. Pros and cons as usual among the different transducers.

Perhaps the Timeless should be best compared with other planar IEMs, like Tin P1 (and the new P1 plus).

I have the OG P1 and still love them. Very different beast but the A7 does get more ear time so that says something. I heard the P1 Plus has a very very very good FR. I may just save up though and get myself the Hifiman Edition XS

Not to open a deep philosophical debate, but since the point of IEMs is to listen to music, all comparisons of all implementations are appropriate, and probably more appropriate than limiting comparisons of like implementations to like implementations… at least to me, I don’t care if what is inside of the IEM is planar, tribrids, choirs of angels, or miniature capybaras playing tiny instruments :) OK, I might sort of lean towards the capybaras, because, CAPYBARAS!

I am continuously amazed by the quality of the timbre and the coherence of the A7. Such a stellar IEM. Not the FOTM anymore but unlike most of said flavors, this one continues to age with grace and strength.

Just a headsup, if you put tuning foams into the black filters on pop settings, it sounds very close to an upgraded KZ DQ6 + Tuning foams.

All you need is this:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002711483821.html
(high density version)

1. Remove the stock metal filter on the nozzle (the side that is going into your ears) by using something like a needle or a sim card ejector.

(irreversible since it seems you cant remove it without putting a hole in it.)

2.

Take one piece of tuning foams, and put it into the nozzle where there is now a hole. (one piece per side.)

3.
Should look something like this now. Done

Pop-red + high-density tuning foams > Pop-red

Bonus:
Also, if you dont have tuning foams but do have the filters that comes with the Tanchjim iems, you could substitute the foams for those filters and the results should be similar.

Why would anybody want to turn a 300$ IEM into a 27$ IEM?
