I'm looking for a new pair of headphones, to be used with my laptop and my mp3 player.
I'm not looking for superb audio, I just need ones that don't sound like trash.
My budget is $25-75. I want to keep it sub$50, but I can go higher if there's a noticeable perforce/price improvement.
I prefer closed ones, since I live in a college dorm.
And sound isolation is a must.
Comfort is a big thing for me too (Circumaural, not supraural).
I listen to almost everything, but adequate bass is very important (doesn't have to be over powering, just not weak or muddy)
I would also consider IEMs/canalphones (are they the same?)
Also, reading reviews just confuses me. Someone always says the sound quality for a particular headphone is utter utter trash, while everybody else says it's fine. For every phone. >.<
I've looked at Senn's HD201, 202 and subsequent models
HTX-7
Shure SRH 240
Sony XD200
IEM-wise, I'm considering Shure 115's, Klipsh S4s for the high end. At the low end, there's too much crud to go through. Anybody know any solid sub-50 IEMs?
Previous sound system's I've listened to are: Behringer HPX2000s (it sounded barely acceptable after a period of burn in), a $5 sony canalphone (honestly sounded better than the Behringers), and my dad's $2k set of B&W speakers whose model # I do not know (never heard anything better, but my experience with sound systems is limited)
PS, the onboard audio on my desktop (which I don't have access to atm though) is quite bad. How much does a decent soundcard cost?
