I actually think the polish was sub par and they needed to cover it up, hence the over the top multiple finishes to hide it. There is a pic of a polished finish and you can see some lines across the front. If that was the reason id appreciate if they were upfront about it.

Last I read seemed they are talking about November as a possible shipping date for the solid state Vi, which Erik ship first. They have been wrong before, but we should at least be getting them in the not too distant future!

They also mention the company they're using can make about 15-17 chassis a week at first.

Yes I also got a $62 shipping invoice, which I just paid, for a Vi DAC SS infinity. I think this is a bit high but oh well. Hopefully, shipping will start in a couple of months.

It cost me $60 US to ship my hifiman he560 from lhlabs. Not the cheapest shipping. I'm getting vidac tube infinite also i expect it to be closer to $100 for shipping. But not fussed about that since they are big. I'm mire worried with whats the declared value for import duty and gst. That will definitely more expensive than shipping

The import duty has been discussed at length and they conformed it would reflect the initial contribution not the final or rrp value. For those of us with the he560's and Tube infinites each shipment should attract no tax unless our govt lowers the threshold like they are discussing. Even then it won't be bad.

For Germany it's a different picture and based on a $1499 invoice for the Vi solid state would mean about 300€ customs tax

So what was your initial contribution? $1499? You could probably open a ticket and query what they will say on the shipping. They might help you out?
