any for v30
lineage os
havos
eth

i can listen to v30 only with them
The Hi-Fi mode options in the screenshot caught my attention. Can you choose the high impedance mode yourself, regardless of the resistance? My phone is on the original Pie version. I am using impedance adapter and AUX cable to be able to use it in high impedance mode. How did you do this?

He is using a custom firmware that allow you to select the mode without an adapter.

In some MQA files the phone shows different colors. One is blue and the other is green. What does it mean? The original version of both files is 48 kHz.

sure.

I don't like the sound of stock firmwares, at all. I prefer to clean up the audio_effects.conf files and other configs, set the hi impedance and adjust the volume of the ess op amps.
How did you do this?
you can look on YouTube for reviews of custom firmware on lg v30, if you like them you can use them

Cut and paste:

When the app is playing and decoding MQA, either the green ('MQA') or blue ('MQA Studio') light will be displayed right next to the MQA logo in the current song and mini player display. This denotes provenance to ensure that the sound is identical to that of the source material. ‘‘MQA Studio’ indicates it is playing an MQA Studio file, which has either been approved in the studio by the artist/producer or has been verified by the copyright owner.

Thanks for the answer. The blue color is original and the green color is converted from another format. So the green is not the original MQA. In this case, can we say that the blue files are of better quality?

Is anyone using Hifiman HE400SE headphones with their V30? I've read good reviews of these headphones but I'm not sure the V30 has enough power to give enough volume on them - they seem to be hard to drive. Unfortunately I can't easily try before I buy.

Ime,
the V30 is able to give plenty of "volume" in HIM, but w/o the authority to make the HE400se sounds best.
(Exp with Era-1, 20ohm / 94db)
Imo, it isn't the best aio device (too bright) for the Hifiman.

Is the V30 usable purely as a DAP? I don’t care much about physical size. I want easy navigation of my library on my 128 and 256 GB cards. Audio quality on the level of my infuriatingly frustrating to use FiiO FX1221. Will not be using cellular. Just streaming and SD card. There are several on eBay for less than 50$. Was going to buy an Hiby R2 but some say the GUI is not usable for large library navigation. I imagine I can navigate by typing on this. What do you think?

Absolutely! That's exactly why I bought mine a couple of years ago. I already have a phone, so didn't need another one. At the time, the LG V30 was one of the most viable DAPs you could get at a bargain price. You happened to get a free phone with it too. I've got my local music library on it, Qobuz, TIDAL and Roon. I have Discord, WhatsApp, other social media on it and variety of other apps too.

The sound quality is is still very good given its price.

However, the big downside is that it's a very old phone now in tech terms. Mine is still on Android version 8.0.0 and have had no security patches since 2019. It's a sealed battery although you may be able to get it replaced by a mobile phone repair shop - I bought a spare battery for it a few months ago and will get it fitted soon. I have a noticeable decline in battery life at the moment. Just be aware of the battery decline if you buy a used one.

I've tried the HE400SE (global ver) from my friend's. In stock conditions, LG V30+ is not able to drive it properly. Even up to full volume (75/75) it hasn't reached my normal listening volume. You must trigger HIM to drive HE400SE.

If you want a planar that the LG V30+ can drive well, get the Oppo PM-3. The stock LG V30+ was able to drive it at a volume of around 55-60 from 75 without needing to trigger HIM in my normal listening volume.
