Talking of IEMs, consider the new Fiio FH7's; getting comparisons up there with the Solaris for a third of the price.

I've ordered a set, will report back synergy with V30.

I have FH7 with v35, ridiculously great value. Don't have Solaris to compare, but do have the Atlas, and I prefer the FH7 on about half of my music.

I remember Columbus myself also.. pushing over 40 on the age.

Columbo would use a busted first-gen iPod and generic earbuds as old as his Peugeot and still solve a crime from details he said he heard around 22 kHz - and you’d never know if he really heard it or was just ****ing around with the culprit's mind.

Thank you, guys, for making me feel... maybe not younger, but at least less alone in my advanced age. :)

The fact that anybody caught that reference probably confirms that the average age here is considerably higher than on the other forums I frequent (XDA and NotebookReview) which have a high percentage of young adult male members. Probably not coincidentally, discussion here is generally more civil, with fewer kerfuffles. I hardly ever see the moderators here, as only a very light touch is required to moderate the discussions. That's nice!

Question guys: I just picked up a V30 to use as my DAC. I am going to connect it to a Schiit Modi 3. Should I use USB Audio Pro or just regular tidal? I noticed both seem to work but the volume was much higher using USB Audio pro. Are there other differences? Thank you.

Yes, there are differences. On a V30 (Android 8 and below) UAPP can stream everything from Tidal bit-perfect. The official Tidal app will only stream master (MQA/24-bit) files correctly - any 44 kHz files will get up-sampled to 48 kHz and this creates some artifacts (that you may or may not notice). Unfortunately, UAPP is limited by Meridian's license restrictions, so cannot offline any Tidal content - you have to be online and streaming for UAPP to access Tidal. More here:

Great post @wolfxomg! BTW, I'm also a DUNU fan. DN1000 is very underrated. You'll love the FLC8n (or FLC8d, which has fixed - but IMHO, optimal - low/ultra-low tuning).

I'd seen that quote from Ken Hong before (it featured in some of our previous debates on this issue). I don't know what he means by "low-quality audio". Does it detect when you're playing Britney Spears? I suspect the dropping down to one pipe is battery-saver mode or quad-DAC-disabled mode.

BTW, you'd mentioned tuning. I've been trying to figure out what "Tuned by Meridian" actually means, since there's no difference in the FR (both V30 and V40 are ruler flat) and Meridian refuse to tell us anything about it. Do you have any thoughts or clues on how a device can have almost identical specs, ruler flat FR, and yet be "tuned" differently?
Hi @csglinux ,
Would the V30 work well with the FLC8N?
Seem to be hard to come by in Europe..
The IEM scene.. there are just too many options out there..
Anyone could provide some good references in price range of 300-500 euros?

Tanchjim oxygen IEM = Outtanding performance.

If you can go for fullsize, I recommend ibasso SR1

Thanks,
The Oxygen definitely are interesting.. the FLC8n.. not sure if I'm just too lazy for the filters that come with them.. I do understand that you can use the filters to get a sound picture more to your liking.. but still maybe too much fiddling for my taste

I ordered the Oxygen with upgraded cable.. I think the price range was spot on for it.
Thanks guys.
So many products are made in China these days.. usually when the product is designed and made in China you will usually get a good quality product.
I'm hoping the Oxygen's are in that category too.

Once you get it, let it burn in for 50hr.

Open box sound may be too harsh. But once it set up the driver stable, it is an outstanding iem.

That is when I tried it with ibasso dx150. Superb clarity from this iem.

And yes China does a great work on DAP and IEM.

Thanks, I sure will.
I will burn in both the LG V30 and the oxygens plugged in to the V30 and let them burn in together
