From what I am reading looks like Sony NW ZX100 is in trouble.

Not only ZX100, but probably mid-fi DAPs as well. I will have Mojo on a tour in a couple weeks or so. I will let you all know how the V10 pair with the Mojo vs ZX2 pairing to the Mojo as a transport.

On paper it should technically better than x5 because it has the same dac as the $700 x7 right?

No, you it has an improved DAC in the X5. The X7 has the desktop version of the ESS DAC which support 8 channels, and the one in V10 is stereo mobile application with 2 channels

Not to go off topic, but the samsung galaxy s7 will have ess9018aq2m, which is used in LH labs products including the Geekout v2 that just came out. Good to see phone companies taking audio seriously, but it hurts to see it will destroy the dap market soon. Good thing LG is forcing samsung to up their game. Hope they bring removable storage back

Not so sure, but I believe LG V10 also uses this one

No, the lg uses the  9018C2M, though perhaps someone can weigh in on the differences

Apparently the latest update is that the only app that can use the ess DAC is the stock music player, do no Spotify or other streaming apps. Everything else is stuck using the DAC built into the Snapdragon processor.

Just like I suspected. Such a bad decision by LG. I'm getting iPhone 6s to use with Chord Mojo instead.
