Thirteen's out. Here we go............
Mea culpa..
Thirteen's out. Here we go............
Well.. it's not very good. It's actually pretty well produced, I just wish it was a good album. Never Dead is ok I guess, and this version of New World Order is nice. Otherwise, bleh.
So first....neither of these songs are even close to thrash...
That's kind of the vibe I got from the whole album. It's Megarock, like Cryptic Writings but not as good. I can see why Vic would turn his back on this. I actually think it's considerably worse than Endgame. There's no Dialectic Chaos, there's no This Day We Fight, there's no Headcrusher, and there's no This Is How The Story ends, which are the songs on Endgame that I think are at least half decent. It's better produced than Endgame, but it's just boring. Deadly Nightshade isn't too bad I guess, it has a bit of a TWNAH vibe to it, which is an album I actually like, but no one else does. I'd give it a 6/10, and I'm being generous there.
6/10? That'a a bit harsh. There are some good songs on this record.
Dave, I always like that you are darks and brutals with reviews though.
I think Risk was a 6/10. Its actually a decent rock album.
Not much of a fan of Endgame either - social commentry coming from musicians who partied too hard is a bit rich.
I'm not really that into Megadeath, I was too busy listening to new metal back when I was stupid enough to accept the lyrics lol.
Social commentary is not a new concept for Megadeth. The issue is that Dave used to be good at it, railing against specifics like the PMRC, or more tried and true metal subjects like war and corruption. Now it's just a bunch of silly "de terk er jerbs!" tea party nonsense. We The People is less transparently awful than Endgame's title track or Bite The Hand That Feeds, but that doesn't make it any good either.
Have you seen the interview where Mustaine talks about the "Devil's Chord?" I mean, its getting a bit silly now.
A bit? Lol. According to Dave, he will not play The Conjuring anymore because he put some kind of "hex" on someone, which is supposedly what that song is about, and he believes he had to spend like 20 years to drive out the "evil spirits" that were created or something like that.
