So I just got my new headphones DT990 (600Ohm) and the difference from previous HD 650 is absolutely immense. One of the biggest improvements is the sound of the growls. In the veiled, dark sound of HD650 they sounded so bland , lacked energy and were mixed up in a big bassy bowl together with other aspects. Now with the DT990 the growls are crystal clear, separated from the rest in a natural way. They're so delicious sounding that one even stops to believe that it's a person screaming that he's listening to :D.

Goong: I don't like it :/. Just like their 1st album and actually avant-garde black in general

I didn't know there actually is a programm that can help declip soundwaves and improve dynamic range.

What do you guys think of this? Have you heard of this before or even tried it? I mean, there IS a difference between these clips.
If that programm did actually work, it would be wonderful.

Here are some other examples of declipping:

It's really interesting at least.

Aaaand what do you guys think of the new Leprous album? It's beautiful :)

Interesting, but....why does it have to be for Winamp? :frowning2:
Blergh.

New track from the upcoming debut second album of Lychgate:

I'm really looking forward to this album!
Some of the best Avant-Garde Black Metal I've ever heard.
I hope I can manage to grab one of the vinyls when the pre-order goes live :|

Their first album was pre-order only for vinyl, so I bought it after they had only released one song. That turned out to be the only song on the album that I liked. Needless to say, I'm not much a fan of pre-orders any more.

I've had some success with de clippers but remember: it's an algorithm. If the music was recorded with clipping, all the de clipper can do is "make a best guess" at what the peak was supposed to look like. i haven't used the specific one you linked but I've tried a couple others. It works ok on some stuff and doesn't do much with others. There is NO magic software that will fix death magnetic!!

In my eyes, Antaeus is the sickest black metal band.

Aosoth is a related band. Same vocalist, similar style.

These two bands are absolutely mandatory for any black metal fan. If you attempt to pass judgment upon them before hearing all their albums, from beginning to end, you shall be cast into the abyss! So press play and stay awhile. ^‿^ \m/

In my eyes it's....no clue. Not Antaeus. Too monotonous. Maybe Deathspell Omega? Hmmm nah. Can't decide.

Is that so?
And why would that be necessary?

Guess I'll choose some seasons in the abyss then.

All I'm saying is that you have to actually listen to a band's songs (all of their songs!) before judging them. If you haven't even listened to them, you have no say in the matter.

But why every single song?

Yes. And don't forget to DBX.

If you want to comment on a song, that's fine and dandy, but if you want to judge a band (implying their complete discography), you can't judge something you haven't heard.

Not sure what that stands for. Double blind testing? lol
