Don't know exactly where should I post this, but What is going on with Audeze (
@Audeze )? Has the company below zero level quality control?
I ordered a pair of LCD-3 back in january. Brand new sealed unit, but the the adhesive surface of the pads had failed. Retailer replaced it immidiately with another LCD-3. And again, it had the same problem. The retailer had still one pair left on stock and "suprise suprise" this one also had the same issues. ****ing embarassing from a headphone that costs 2000€ and comes with a plastic card that tells IT was inspected by someone at the Audeze factory. And now the retailer is waiting for new pads or a new unit for a replacement and has been waiting for it since february but nothing happens. The retailer has done terrific job and even gave me the opportunity to take one demo unit from the stores on a loan until Audeze gets something done. This happens maybe next year?
I probably should have learned something from this experience but while waiting for the LCD-3 I decided to pull the trigger on LCD-XM4 this week. Well guess what? This one also had pads completely fallen off. And again the retailer (in this case they were also the importer of Audeze here in Finland) had second unit in stock. We opened the second box together with salesperson and we could not believe our eyes. Salespersons started laughing immidiately as we opened the case since the headphones looked like they had gone through nuclear war. They were complete mess. The salesperson made a joke that this is must be what Audeze means by hand made so that the customer has to assemble the product from scratch. And again even more embarassing from a headphone that is listed at 3500€.
So yeah big thanks to
@Audeze for the joy of unboxing. Maybe some day in the distant future I will get a pair of headphones that are functional. Meanwhile I just have to look for other manufacturers and encourage you to raise the level of quality control so that after opening 5 factory sealed boxes the customer would atleast have a unit that is capable of delivering.
(And btw the picture of LCD-XM4 is from that unit I unboxed at home. Didn't take a photo from the second unit that had gone through nuclear war).
