I have never heard the HE-4 but I can tell you that my 225e is much better than the HE-560 with the heavy distorted guitars.

Define Better :3, though the HE 560 is for all intensive pourposes a "warm" HE 4, so I've heard the newest HE 560s are warmer than the First Batch, which sucks :/

Though, I'm listening to some Metal Now on the HE 4, Oh wait I should mention I have Beyer Pads on my HE 4... which makes it really aggressive hmm I forgot about that, anyways [I should have my HE 4 measured some day] if you would though define better?

I will say refering back to my Old LA D2k which was epic with metal, on the HM801 the D2k had no Edge in the mids [cuz the hm801 is slow and analog] but on a cleaner source the D2K was pretty epic for Metal, so I think if you had a warmer HE 560, it may be why you didn't like it, as the Grados are pretty aggressive

though my biggest issue with the Senn Grado, is sound stage and it's positioning. It really can't keep up to the HE 4 in terms of layering and speed

I got to admit the new lcd-2 with Fazor when modded, foam dampening removed out of grill with thin strip to prevent resonance sounds very good. The sound is open and upper midrange lifted.

The new revision of the HE-560 are slightly too warm for my tastes.  (I had the same concern with the latest version of the LCD-2 before the Fazor modification.)

I have owned 2 different pairs of HE-560 and 4 different pairs of LCD-2 and everytime I'm coming to the same conclusion...the electric guitars sound much better on the Grado headphones.

Don't get me wrong here, the HE-560 and the LCD-2 are amazing headphones and technically superior than most of the Grados but they are not as engaging with real Metal music, they lack the crunch and the raw energy of the electric guitars.

That's Fair enough, It's a shame to hear the HE 560 is warm, Initial impressions where good! I really don't want to have to get an HE 560 THEN get it modded [I'm not really one for modding to tired at the end of the day]

Though again, at the moment I have no issues with my HE 4. I might wait a year or so till I can afford to get the Hifiman HE 6 or maybe get the HE 7 assuming it's a touch more sensitive than the HE 6 is, I'd be happy dropping $1200 on a TOTL Planar, assuming it's got a the HE 4 sound, and maybe I might like the HD 800 [I'll have to try it first] or maybe the T1 will be a suitable upgrade for me.

We shall see :3

BUT yea, the Grado Sound is great for rock. I agree, and my HE 4 is very "grado esque" with Beyer Pads on it, plus it's got that lovely linear Planar Bass!

The HE-560 are not as warm as the LCD-2 but they are a little bit warmer than my Grados for sure.

Maybe I should wait a little bit before jumping to conclusion because they are brand new but so far my 225e have the edge for the electric guitars  For the rest, the HE-560 are vastly superior.
