KOSS ESP-950 Thread

I have not, but I would try deoxit before oil

Deoxit can sometimes destroy potentiometers. By cleaning the carbon trace right off of them.

CAIG has a different product called FaderLube that doesn't have that problem.

If you have to get into the E/90, you have to take the sticker off the front panel. And you're more or less guaranteed to destroy it, which is why Koss just replaces it when they service an E/90.

Swap the sides and see if the right side still plays.

Luckily I don't need to get inside the E/90 unless its the only way to remove the knobs. I've lubricated the Objective2 potentiometer before, so I don't see lubrication being an issue. Guess I'll just try unscrewing the knob screws and pulling them out with rubber gloves.

I read about it first so it didn't throw me but if I didn't read about I'm sure I would make the same mistake:wink:

You just got them and want a new amp? Spoken like a true Head-Fi'er ; ) You have to change the plug on the extension cable or buy one pre made to use a Stax amp or one made for the Stax connection. Just got a Stax SRM1 MK 2 and it is much better than the E-90 in my opinion.

I love the esp950s so far but as a head fi'er you need to get the most out of your headphone

Completely understand. Haven't had a lot of time on the Stax amp but soundstage is one of the big pluses for the amp so far.

I was using a Stax 323b amp, needed an adaptor cable. I liked the sound, but the adaptor fell apart, so UM back you the stock amp. I thought it gave bass more body.

Mine was an extension I bought with the adaptor. Was nice while it lasted...
