So I got my k701 headphones new and I listened to them... I don't think they sound tht bad.. They aren't broken in nor have a received my amp yet but will they just sound that much better when the break in and with an amp?? Cuz they are pretty clear right now bass is almost non existant though! I was just wondering. Thanks in advance!

Having once owned the 701  IMO they sound good out of the box but do sound best with a proper  amp and about 300 hrs of burn in. The Matrix was the best amp I used for the 701

When I used mine straight out of the box, it sounded almost identical to the AD700. After 125 hrs of burn in, I still didn't notice a difference, although one might have taken place.
 
Thus is the reason I sent them back. Because you *need* an amp. Once you get yours, I think they will improve significantly. Good luck burning them in, takes a lot of patience!

I always found the bass on the 701 to be tight controlled and extended. The choice of amp makes a big difference. The more power you give the 701 the better it is. The matrix made this can shine.
