I also believe in an placebo effect here, often you hear something been said, stronger you believe in it, that's very human and nothing wrong with that at all. I am not saying that this is the fact in all situations, but in some it is.

Could be true, but not here.....

I've run both K1000's along with the HD800, PS1000, T1, HE-6, HE5LE, HF2, HD650, HD600, W5000, LCD-2, K702, DT880 and MSpro,
They all have their differences, but the two K1000's are still significantly different in the bass department.

The BL is about equivalent to the K702, while the BH is in the running with the HD800 and T1 in volume.

All valid comments. Demonstrates the point that while it is good to solicit opinions.... the final arbiter should be your ears with your equipment. I have found in my experience that reviews by other members are good source of info for broad sound signature and obvious emphasis or deficiencies eg. the brightness of K1K. But when it comes to subtle nuances especially in comparison to different versions of same models than it becomes less relevant and depends much more on personal preferences, supporting system, etc.

I completely agree.

I've found the same. In fact, the BH seems to have a bit more impact than the HD800s (and even the T1s) in my system because of their more prominent midbass. Ofcourse, they have less sub-bass than either one, but surprisingly, I can hear down to 30Hz with the BH pretty clearly (tested with sine waves).

No offense but anyone that states that the BL is missing half the music is very naive and/or ignorant.

For one, its not a logical statement considering that 90% of all musical instruments resides in the mid-range, not below 50Hz. Furthermore, there is no way that any K-1000 (including BH) extends to 20-30 HZ before roll off starts. Simply put, saying that "half the music is missing" on one and complete on the other is a very ignorant statement IMHO.

I will buy the fact that some notice small changes in bass more dramatically than others, but let's keep it real.

BTW, I can hear the low bass notes (20-30Hz) on pipe organs on the BL version clear as day. Anything below 50 Hz is attenuated but also audible.

Absolutely agree.

No offense but anyone that states that the BL is missing half the music has no credibility in my book. Simply put, it's a stupid comment.

Lighten up, dudes.

It was meant as a piece of hyperbole.......

And, yes, the difference in bass response in my two K1000's is very noticeable

With other combinations of K1000 YMMV very greatly.

I just switched the NAD 3100 to NAD C 350. Midrange a little more sympathetic but otherwise I did not hear a big difference. Densen huh? How much does that cost? How do they sound Shahzada? Is there more solid state tips out there? I ve been NAD for a long time but starting to think they do not marry well with the Ks. Or do I need the C 370?

The Densens are around $10000.

Have yet to try them with my Stingray so can't really give a comparitive impression (SS Vs
Tubes)
But I CAN say that there is excellent synergy. Beats the LCD-2/Stingray and HP1000/Melos. And by miles.
This is THE finest sound I have EVER heard.

Hmm, its like almost 2x higher than they cost in DK, but I am sure they worth every penny.

Manley is a very good amp and match pretty well with K1000, but I think he needs some nice NOS EL84 to shine fully, but you may start by swapping of input 12AT7 first, cos they do have huge influence on sound.

Twice the price, huh. I need to talk to my dealer...
Will search for some NOS EL84s.
Thanks
