  Late 2005 I believe.

I am sure many people here have seen this post, but there's a LOT of information here:

Man I sure wish I was able to get in on this deal in 2002:

New K1000's for $359 USD!

HAHA wow thats crazy. I would've loved to hop on that myself. Although back then the only headphones I had ever heard cost $4 from walmart.

I'll be reading up more on the K1000. I definitely want to own one, if not for just the collector side of things.

TTVJ had another big sale on K1000 at the time of its discontinuation (around 2005) and I got one of those -- just under $500 ($450?), I think? Nice set, but the speaker tap extension cable had a horrible rubber smell. Regrettably sold them a year later for a few bucks less than I paid ($420). And sadly AKG hasn't produced a headphone I feel any interest in since then.

At one point I owned 5 pairs at once and now I am down to one pair. My personal preference are the black box or lower serial pairs due to noticeably weightier bottom end and less shrill highs... but the difference isn't super huge. Even though I'd say that the K1000 is the best sounding headphone I've heard so far, the AKG K240DF is my favorite overall. Anyway, AKG should really release an updated model like a K1001 since I'd buy it almost instantly. I agree that nothing much of interest has been released since the K1000 but I still really like my Q701.

Just want to reaffirm
My love for the akg1000

Just picked up a VAC 70/70 amp with 8 300b output tubes and 65 watt power

The akg 1000 allows me to tap into that amps fantastic midrange.

The better the source ....the better they sound

Vac make incredible stuff, they probably sound great! Still got my eye out for a pair if anyone is selling theres or knows where to get one in perfect condition.

Anyone know where and who I can send my SAC KH-1000 AKG-1000 K-1000 Amp for repair (preferably in Canada), but will pay post to USA if need be.
The red on light keeps flashing and amp does not function.  ( I love this amp with my AKG K-1000 headphones and seeing as how it was specifically made in Germany for this headphone.)

Late to the K1k party I am ... honoured to have bought Afrikane's last pair S/N 10712. Running off a modest Cambridge Audio integrated for now as my Pass DIY power amp needs some TLC. Also ordered a Topping T10.2 Mk 4 T-amp, and eyeing an Audionote Kit 1 300B SET clone. Initial impressions are overwhelmingly favourable. Definately earned a permanent seat at the table.

Question ... has anyone done comparative BL vs BH measurements? Following my HD800 EQ'd to HD800S experiment I am keen to see if I can recreate the "bass heavy" sound with my later model.
