I don't believe they are inferior. I realize the result if this experiment is unlikely to suit everyone's taste. But that isn't my objective.

I'm with Duke... It seems pretty hard to make the leap that the 812 drivers would be the right drivers for the K1000 frame. I'd think there would be better candidates... But good luck!

I wish I has some ideas for you.  It seems to me it's going to end up being more like a small "speaker" than a headphone driver... perhaps I'm being naive and they are more similar than different, but I think I'd be looking for a really good small speaker to put in there.  I know one of the engineers from the project post here occasionally, perhaps he can offer something up to help?

i just got my k1000 #07056, it sounds quite a lot brighter than the hd800, the hd800 is thicker and smoother almost veiled in comparison, is this what you guys are hearing ?

thinking of getting the accuphase e-360 integrated amp (100w per channel), will this be adequate or is it too much power?

If possible, take K1000 to the shop and try them out, just be carefull with volume pot.

Well, if you can push that kind of money without listen first, maybe you can buy TrendsAudio T10.2 as well, just to compare the two.
