What are your Q values? I can't get this eq to stop clipping and distorting like crazy until like -32 preamp and it sounds really hollow to me.

Ok, you've stepped off into some science I have no clue about, lol. I just EQ by ear. I'm surprised though that you had to go to -32 on your preamp to stop clipping. I stay at -12 and turn my iFi iDSD up to around 1 o'clock with 0 clipping. I would like to try a set of yours if you'd be willing to share, so I can see (hear) the difference. I'm always up to learn how I might improve my music listening.

I must have been really sleepy last night as I had forgotten to actually activate the eq filters. Needless to say, I'm liking your settings a lot better now. lol...
This is your settings without filter:

Oh yeah, your 1st graph would be a horrible sound, lol. The 2nd graph looks like mine in APO. I'll try your settings from the spoiler tomorrow with the SZ2k.

I'm probably going to take the plunge and buy the Cayin C5 for $130 to use with my FiiO E18's DAC and the JVC SZ1000, Anyone have anything good to say about the C5?

The C5 souds pretty nice. But the SZ1000 would love to get more power fed into it.

Is the Cayin enough for the most part though? recommend me an amp under $200 then, whether it be portable or desktop...

Under 200?

The Cayin is a good starter amp for the JVC's. If you are handy, you can build yourself a headphone speaker tap or modify one. I've used car and home amps to power my headphones. Or you can buy a used Parasound V3 amp and swap out the resistors by the headphone tap to a lower value. That is how I stay below 200 dollars for a bass amp. My current daily amp at work is an old NAD2140. Bottomless bass, HiFi sound and they can be found for under 150.

Ive had my sz2k for 6 months now (with 77x pads) and I have since been carrying them everywhere I go. powered by c5 they are a part of my soul now. Unfortunately it has a few barely noticeable nicks and scratches on the gold rim.

I want to try sheepskins on them, I feel my headsize is slightly too small and so a lot of the vibrations are escaping and that maybe the sheepskins might isolate better. Anyone have exeperience with sheepskins or hm5 pleather on these?

I've used both the HM5 Pleather and HM5 Sheepskin (See pics below), and the Sheepskin are definitely the way to go between the two. They transfer more of the bass and feel much nicer against your head, worth the extra $$ imo.
