JVC HA-SZ2000/1000 Impressions Thread

My jvc sz2000's arrived yesterday from Japan (got stung by customs though). They are definitely worth it though. I changed the pads straight away, played wiz's on my level on my fiio x5. Wow I swear my whole head was shaking. They are not really portable but I am going to wear them at work proudly today.

You are now officially on your level, welcome to bass bliss, don't forget to try the 50K bass test, I think it might wow you. hehe

I certainly will try the 50k bass test. I almost passed out listening to a bass mekanik track already this morning. I never heard anything like the bass on these headphones.

I'm new to this thread, I was going to get the HA-SZ2000's but they were over $200 on Amazon, so I bought it's brother the HA-SZ1000's for $113 a couple days ago and I received them, When I get to the point of high volume, and high gain they start to distort but that's when they start to get really bassy which was what I was looking for but the distortion really kills it for me, is it my amplifier since it maybe can't provide clean amplification at it's highest levels? It is a FiiO E18 AMP/DAC which is basically the minimum for these cans I've heard.

OK, 101 whenever you are using an amped source to send power to a set of cans. You have to use an equalizer to drop the gain down into the minus range. Too much power is being sent to the cans causing sound distortion. For example, if I were to use an EQ to raze the bass range and or high frequency range, which I am doing BTW, if I didn't drop the gain down, I would get distortion and even crackle. Basically, what I am saying is, just get some EQ going, and drop that gain down to minus 15 to 20, raze the lower bass range to plus 10DB, and raze the high frequency range from 8K to 16K to plus 10DB, and raze the 3K to 6K range to plus 5DB

I appreciate the help, but I have already dropped the preamp to -12 and have done some tweaking with Equalizer APO, and it still does clipping which OldDude04 mentioned above, I will try some of your tips though.

OK, I have the Fiio A3, can someone tell me if the Fiio A3 and the Fiio E18 have the same power outputs? I ask this cause I am wondering if one is less powerful then the other? I know the Fiio E12 has been said to have plenty of power to run these cans, but even some in here have said that not even the Fiio E12 can push the cans to their max abilities. I will admit that I wish sizing an amp to a pair of cans were easier, especially for beginners. But thats why Head-Fi is here, to help save someone from eternal frustration, one watt at a time.

I will try this in a couple hours and report back to you, but nothing will probably be better than getting a new amplifier, specifically the Cayin C5 but the DAC in my Nexus 6 isn't great.

Try Neutron, a music player on Android that has up to a 30 band parametric EQ and several different tweaks. It should help. If you have your phone rooted, you could install Viper4Android.

Tried these settings, it sounds great however I still get the clipping If I turn the AMP and Source up all the way, Viper4Android won't work with my USB OTG configuration for some reason...

Ahh, well, that brings up the next question. We folks would like to know what your source is. Because if your source is a computer 3.5mm jack port, well there's your problem right there. Computers contain terrible DAC's, and they will distor like a mother. You would be better off buying a USB DAC and plugging that into your computer's USB port, change sound ouput to your USB DAC, then plug your AMP into the output of the DAC, then your headphones into the output of the AMP, that probably would solve a lot of issues.

I use my E18 through the USB port on my PC and through my Nexus 6's Micro USB port.

@EJ102 : If you can save up, the iFi Micro iDSD would solve your problems. It's both DAC and Amp, has plenty of juice, can be used from your phone and pc. Drives the JVC to bassageddon.
