Somewhere along this thread it was mentioned that the limited edition were more microphonic, can someone confirm?

Thanks guys for the replies, just need to get the facts right. Personally, I'm really enjoying the musical and fun presentation from them and " Made in Japan " or not isn't going to take anything away from them.

It reads China on chin slider.

Interesting impressions dfrost, most of which I can relate to. I certainly share your appreciation of the JVCs broad dynamic range, as well as its ability to convey subtleties and drama with equally good affect. Like yourself I had the DBA's, and continue to feel that as my personal high frequency bench mark, thay are yet to be bested. Whilst the JVCs do have very articulate and revealing treble, they can't quite match the sparkle of the Fischers shimmering intricacy. That said, I think they pull comfortably ahead of most other iems at this price range, including the Atrios, RE-262s and GR07s.

The problem I always had with the DBAs was their feather-weight bass, something which I could never quite overcome. This may have been down to the impactful nature of much of my music, which the DBAs could never convincingly convey. However, it's possible that my appreciation was restricted by my limited experience of IEMs, and further compounded by the fact that I had just come from the warm and excessively thick SM3.

I prefer sparkle too. HS Golden Crystal has the right combination of piercing treble awesomeness and tight well textured bass (as recommended by ClieOS too). You may want to try auditioning these.

Why do I feel that FXT90's bass is not tight and controlled enough, quantity is there though ? Ok, I guess it is due to the mid bass hump that lingers through notes.

I'll give it a listen for 1 month and reach to the final conclusion.

Very interesting. Thanks for this info - this is the first I have heard of these!

The FXT90s bass currently gives me all the speed and control I need, perhaps partly due to a difference in preference, and partly due to the fact that I am listening to other IEMs which are much more bass heavy (FX-700 and EPH-100).

I actually found the DBAs to be a little too quick... probably because much of the music I listen to is fast enough as it is, without the need for the fast-forward effect I sometimes got from the Fischers.

The FXT90s bass does tighten up with burn in, so I think it's a good idea that you're giving them a chance for a month. Keep us posted on your impressions.

I'm looking at buying these, but I need to know a few things.

1. How is the soundstage? Is it like the GR07 where its 2d or no?
2. Are these very fun? Could you watch a movie with them?

If you're in need of a truly 3D soundstage, look at the Yamaha EPH-100. I didn't know what 3D sound was until I got them.

The soundstage is excellent. It is not as wide as the GR07s, but it has noticably greater depth. The GR07s sound more 2D in comparison. I prefer the JVCs soundstage. And yes, they are great fun!

Yes that's exactly right. If a phone is throwing cues behind you, then it has a lack of forward projection (think sm3).

That's a good description and definetly matches my experience with the EPH-100s, which have a deeper and more immersive soundstage than the FXT90. Purely in terms of soundstage, I feel that the JVCs sit comfortably on the middle ground between the wider Vsonics and the deeper Yamahas. A very good balance if you ask me!

Oh, and a quick update on tips:

I've recently tried out the MEElectronics Original Single Flange tips, which are by far my favorite so far, bettering even the reversed Comply TS-400s / UE Singles Flanges in sonic quality and comfort.

Guys why do you reverse using your ts400? is their a benefit for this?

Yes, it means that high frequencies leaving the nozzle of the iem have no contact - and therefore are not absorbed - by the Complys foam. Many people are happy to use TS complies normally, as unlike other Complies, they are designed specifically to minimize this contact. They work very well actually, and are by far my favorite Complys yet... However, I'm quite sensitive to treble, and did miss that extra bit of sparkle, hence the reversing.

You've probably heard of people cutting other types of Comply, so that sound goes from the inner spacer straight into the ear rather than through the absorbent foam? Same thing.
