I like to wear an aluminum foil helmet with my T50's so the aliens can't intercept my thoughts

Generally speaking, reflective materials like aluminum are the last thing you should put anywhere near a T50rp. I don't think even putting aluminum on the headband is a good idea.
I'm pretty sure it does help, the increase in clarity and detail was quite noticeable, might be the cotton though, hard to say.

Finally put some aluminum on the baffles filled with clay, increased detail and clarity by small margin, almost unnoticeable. But I still have the infamous 7000Hz peak.
EDIT: Forgot what I said early about increasing detail by a small margin, they're starting to sound analytic
Got an idea on these peaks after hearing clear improvements from putting biplast foam on earpad inner surfaces and center driver square.
I suppose the peaks are caused by reflections between headphone's earside surface and pinna. So we have to absorb them. Obviously we have no control on pinna, but Fostex's driver with its little open area allows us to cover it. Cut out cubes or thin stripes of absorbing foam and cover everything other than the actual openings in the driver. It would be better if one would remove the driver from baffle and stick the foam right on metal plates, bit I suppose placing the foam above dust cover would also work. And perhaps combining that would be even better.
Haven't yet tested that as cutting many small cubes/stripes would take some time, but will give it a try at weekends.

My fear with adding foam to the ear side of the baffle would be having an even more difficult time getting the 840 pads on. Are these fears unfounded?![]()
The helmet connects to one of the ground wires in your T50, right? Otherwise, it is pointless.
Yes, but the wire from the helmet to the ground wire of the T50 must be of 8 gauge wire, or it will not work correctly.![]()
Well I certainly can't divulge my foil helmet grounding secrets here, they have internet access too you know!
I thinking of using dynamat on the baffles, then felt above it, instead of acoustic foam, might work.
BTW, has anyone tried Compass Audio when buying the T50rp's, they have a 4.5 star seller rating and they offer the T50rp's for only 74$
Edit: My T50rp's are starting to sound a lot like HD650's, with good treble. I wonder if Fostex ever thought their cheap ortho's could turn out so good
