Searching for them in Google shopping, I find:

http://www.performanceaudio.com/buy/Fostex/T50RP/1102

Don't know anything about their reputation as a retailer though.

I've been thinking about picking up another pair to do my own modding on, and to have a listen to stock first, to compare to the already modded pair I picked up second-hand here.

A friend just bought from them today.  They have free shipping on orders over $100, and they happen to stock 840 pads, mogami cabling, and neutrik plugs...they look like they're just a smaller pro-audio company.

Excellent info, thanks. Love supporting the small businesses (if good people!)...

Hey all,
Way back when, I did Magick Man's mod and quite enjoyed it, but recently decided to try the Rastapants 2 mod. I grabbed all the needed materials and did the mod, and unfortunately it doesn't seem to sound right. The bass is fairly strong and bloomy, and everything sounds recessed with very little detail. It also lacks the great separation and transients that it once had. I can't seem to see what I'm doing incorrectly.

Hi guys, I was just wondering if anyone has experience using Beyerdynamic DT990 pads for these? It's down to the Shure 840 pads, the pleather Beyer pads, and the velour Beyer pads. What would you guys recommend? They're all within about ten dollars of each other, price isn't really an issue between them.

Thanks!

sure pads is mostly used because it has a great effect on the t50rps, even if the cups are not dampened (yet). not sure if beyer pads will fit the t50rp without getting it ripped the first few times you tried putting on it

Complete guess here, but the beyer gel pads were said to be super hard to put on. I'd then expect the rest of the beyers to be more than a little difficult.
Once again, just a guess.
But even between 840 pads and HM5 pads, the 840 pads were easier to put on.

Ah, you are awesome!  I did some searching, but missed that one!  Just ordered two pair (one for myself, one for a friend), and the came out to 72.50 each with free shipping/no tax.  Used the promo code TAKE5 for $5 off.  Now to get the modding supplies!

What are the differences between the mad dogs and the paradoxes?

Anyone can tell me if these modded HPs can sound good without an amp? Or are they power hungry?

And second question, how's the soundstage and 3D imaging on these, with the best mods out there? Can these also be used for games and movies, with Dolby Headphone (virtual surround)? How do they compare to AKG K(Q)701 or Denon 5k\7k? Those cans are considered to be very good for this, that's why i'm asking.

1. I'm happy using them without amp. In fact I usually don't use amps on the go, and these are my to-go's.

2. Sure, why not (for games and movies). I can't speak for the better mods, since I've never heard them, but sound stage like the K/Q701? I highly doubt it. Though honestly, K/Q701 stage is abnormal IMHO, which probably doesn't mean much to you.
