The current back of my T50RP drivers look like this:

They have the square felt on both sides (front and back of the driver), I've seen a lot of people only use the felt square on one or the other side, what effect does having both have on the sound rather than just one, and does it matter which side it's on?

Another quick question, I see a lot of people filling the area around the driver (forgot the lingo), would blu-tack work for this or should I invest in some modeling clay?

Has anyone tried this material for stuffing the cups? The product description is very promising (better than Dacron, foam, and fiberglass, apparently).

Edit: Just read a quick post from some other forums. Apparently it performs about as well as fiberglass, but it more expensive. I'm wondering if it would be safer to handle, though.

I found a post I read a long while back from rhythmdevils about using Creatology craft foam/felt (adhesive) instead of Paxmate or Silverstone acoustic foam. I might guy my currently modded T50RP and try his idea out with the material I linked to above.

Yes, it's a good material.  I have been playing with a few variations and different designs and have switched to this because the density is easier to control than cotton balls.

I'm looking to get the Stax pads for my T50-RP's, but they have two very similar models on their website and I can't figure out which ones are the ones people have been using to mod them, I'm leaning toward the $160 one as the correct ones but I'm not sure.

http://staxusa.com/Parts/Ear-Pads/STAX-EP-007-EarPad.html $160

http://staxusa.com/Parts/Ear-Pads/STAX-SR-007-Earpad.html   $130

Also if there are any earpads like the ones one Beyer DT990 premiums that also fit give me a heads up. Also if you have any other earpad suggestions that fit please post it. Only reason I'm going with the 02 pads is because others such as shure's appear to be mediocre.

The brown star pads are pleather sides and leather on the skin-contact surfaces (so I am told).  The black is all leather, hence the price delta.  I have not played with the Brown but believe the geometry, and hence acoustic signature, should be very similar, and I'm guessing are really nearly identical.

They both have black available and one is 130 other 160, color must not be the reason for the price, there is something else different about these. Which Black ones have you looked at, the SR or EP version?

What do you mean they appear to be mediocre?  They're perfectly fine.

I hear they stick to you in an uncomfortable way.

Just figured it out I think; I hope they are the same shape and fit the the T50's

Hmm ... that hasn't happened to me, yet.  Also, I haven't hear of others experiencing the issue either.   I find the Shure pads very comfortable.

As cheap as they are I might give them a go before spending big bucks on the Stax. How much room do they give your ears, because the stock ones have my ear against the driver, I had to stuff them to add some separation. My favorite pads are actually on dt990 premiums, might get those and glue them on, what yall think?

I don't really use my T50RP much anymore so if you want to see if there's a difference I could send mine to you for a bit. However the brown ones are quite soft and comfortable so I have no complaints about them or the sound.

To busy with the HE-500's? I appreciate the offer, I will take your word for it, one question though, were your ears touching the driver with your 02's? I don't mind that they touch, I just want decent separation for long gaming session comfort.

Also, those with the Shures, how much separation from the driver did you experience.

Would the Shure 940 pads work?

My ears do not touch the drivers or at least I don't feel the drivers when using the T50RP. Actually I don't have possession of my HE500 for a few weeks if not longer as they are on loan right now. I don't know when I'll get them back but I have used the HE500 once in the last few months. Most of my time is spent on both of my Magnums.

I did use the Shure 840 pads for some time. They were comfortable but not as comfortable as the brown O2 pads.
