Jomo has some great designs!

Just realized that the first generation of Jomo4, Jomo5 and Jomo6 are discontinued on Jomo's site with only the version 2 left. Does that mean my first generation Jomo5 has increased in value?

Any word on what is changing?

If you're referring to the version 2s, here are what's quoted from the site :

Jomo4 V2

Jomo4 V2 is the brand new design based on the original quad drivers design. With improved and balanced sound. Punchy and tight bass, clean mid range and detailed high frequency presentation. Packed with one low, two mid-range and one high drivers, produce and overall flattish sound signature.

Jomo5 V2

We revamped the design philosophy for this 5 drivers bad boy. With two massive bass drivers, two new mid-range drivers and one high frequency drivers, give you unparalleled low-end presentation. Punchy, extended, thunderous bass, uncompromised clean mid-range vocal and high frequency presentation. Feel the vibe, feel the beat, this is my Jam!

Jomo6 V2

The summit of the the Signature Series and the top tier of the new lineup, we present you the revived Jomo6 V2. It features six new selected Balanced Armatures, a completely newly designed 5 ways complicated electrical and acoustical crossover network, medical grade stainless steel tube on the high frequency driver. A lightly V shaped sound signature with a great sound stage. Fast bass, forward mid-range and extended high frequency. Say no more.

I would expect a 6R v2 to be released as well.

I gave a try to Jomo 4v2 and 6v2 in Singapore this week (universal demos, tested on a Cayin N5).

Jomo 4v2: flat as a board, snappy but still very natural sound, focus is on details. Genuinely impressed although flat is not my thing.

Jomo 6v2: flattened V as announced, quite lively and detailed, typically more my cup of tea... Until I heard cymbals. They have to tweak their treble drivers better, cymbals sound way too dry, like the decay is too fast. The guy at Music Sanctuary told me that he would have a chat with them about this.
At this price point, they have to correct this before delivering to the first version 2 buyers. It is a bit weird because the Jomo 4v2 didn't have this defect at all. Maybe the steel tubing they talk about for the treble is also to blame and needs more tweaking.

But overall good experience, these are good contenders if you're after IEMs focused on details. At least the tunings they made makes each model very different, which is what I call a true range, unlike some other brands I tested recently.

Too bad I couldn't test the Jomo 5v2, from what they announce, I would have loved the signature.

I thought V-shaped and forward mids are contradictory. Better to rely on impressions than marketing speak I guess!

Glad you caught that contradiction. I got confused too.

I never noticed this thread until now. See my sig for review of the 6R (original model) which I very much enjoy. As far as neutral monitors go, this is probably the best I've heard. Weird that they came up with new models so quickly - I would have thought Joseph would want to wait for the new model to be reviewed if he knew it was coming soon.

Or perhaps they intend to keep the original 6R in the lineup, as 1964 Ears/64 Audio did for a long time with several of their older V-series. Original 6R looks to still be available on the site as of right now.

I believe the 6R will still remain in the line up as a part of the reference series. The new V2 versions are replacement of the older non reference line up (Jomo 1 ~ 6).
