Nothing. It takes the power from USB and regulates it down to be very clean. Hence all that plugs in is a USB cable on one end, and RCA or mini on the other. No power cords or batteries required.

A decently made, non-overpriced one.

That is the extent of my "belief" that cables effect sound quality. Blue Jeans Cable or the like is your friend, if you lack DIY skills. I refuse to pay 100x parts cost markups for anything, but especially something I can make myself.

The Pico DAC is as good, if not better, than many of those. A portable headphone amp is really all IEM's need to shine. The only significant improvement over such a rig would be using a $4k+ DAC like an EMM Labs, Lavry Gold, APL, etc.

That said, I think a transducer this detailed, fast, transparent, and balanced, should have no trouble scaling with the quality of gear you stick behind it.

But on the right one [left ear, right in the photo] there is a flash/blink on it.

I'd guess its an air bubble. Certainly not a hole. If you want to see a hole in a custom IEM, I will take a pic of my UE5c for you.
