Nice presentation and impressions. When you mentioned the lack of soundstage, relative to other phones, etc., and the bass, I was wondering if this was new out of box or burned in. Per the last part of the video you state that it is out of box. I assume now you have well over 100 hours and I would be curious on further comparisons to your first impressions. For me, I found that at 100 plus hours, it opened up and the bass was well textured and pretty natural.
I look forward to your opinion on changes, related to the time you have had the Jade II. I noted that on the, at the time, expensive Ultrasone limited edition 9, that the headband was the same as the headphones that sold for 350 and wanted something more. Well years later it is still going strong and feels comfortable. Yes, I like the headband on the Focal Utopia, beautiful but would be glad to pay less for them if they made a less expensive headband. :^)
Ok, thank you. Where is it posted? Ok, got it. Clicked on it and got to the site.I'm not the guy in the video, by the way.

Not a real issue, I did tempt fate by using them while on sitting on the floor (helps with back pain as well, to lie down in a very flat and hard surface), and I couldn't reproduce any issuesHello everyone,
This may of been brought up already at some point. but having seen a Jade 2 review on youtube. the reviewer mentioned that it hurt his hearing/ear and created lots of pressure where he lost hearing for a breif moment after using them.
This has caused some concern with me as i was intending to buy a Jade 2 set after demo'ing them at an audio show at the hifiman booth and enjoying them very much.
Has anyone experienced this ? is this a concern hifiman has made a statement on ? faulty batches?
I know I came off a little harsh in regards to complaining about the volume and the bass. I wasn't used to a sound of this caliber in my own home. These are so effortless. Some electric guitar plucks sound out of this world. Depth, 3d image.
To be fair at the audio show i went to when i saw they had the Jade 2 up for demo i had to grab a seat and try them... *cough* I was there for 45min... *cough*
It's so hard to decide between the Jade 2 or the Arya... but i have until summer to decide.
YES!I also have the Arya, if I can help with any advice.

I know what you mean,I owned both HE1K V2 (which Arya is essentially that) and Jade2 at the sametime, after side by side listening, sold HE1KV2 the next day. Not even close. So much more detail, more layering in soundstage, the HE1KV2 sounded muddy in comparison.
Caveat being I'm listening out of full ifi pro-stack.
I know what you mean,
At the booth which i was the only one at (i can't belive nobody else showed up for like 2hrs at the hifiman booth! lol)
they had the Susvara, Jade 2, Arya, Ananda, 1000v2 and 1000se.
They were all plugged into the Nirvana amp from Auris audio, (except the Jade 2, they had their own) and i got to "hot swap" cans with the same songs playing.
It was awesome, it really gave me a clear picture of what sound each can brought to the table... my end conclusion was that out of them all, i liked the Susvara(although not efficient, power hungry and way too expensive), Arya and Jade 2. the rest were... too expensive for what they did or just werent that good in relation to the others.
obviously i can't afford the susvara, so i have to settle for either the Jade 2 or Arya. its a difficult decision as they both brought something to the table which i can't get with my DT1990 pro and ADI-2 DAC. i'm hoping to add to my collection the missing piece... for now (always room for more.)

Same!! Despite that though i did very much enjoy the jade 2. You could of tried the arya!!! I asked the guys at the audioville booth and the arya was set up in the back room with even more headphones and higher end cans and gear. It just you needed to be escorted behind the desk and into the room and watched for a bit lol.I was there too at the Montreal Audio Show and spent most of my time at the Hifiman and Audioville's dream headphones tables. I wish I had listened to the Arya. My expectations for the Jade II were very high, since the original Jade were my favorite headphones for their ultra sweet, detailed and open sound. The build quality was artisanal and problematic, but I regret selling them and was hoping for the Jade II to be a continuity in sound. FWIW I was disappointed by the Jade II. They sounded too clean and polite for me. Neutral, detailed, fast but nowhere near as fun or sweet like the original. Perhaps it was the amp or meet conditions. I would still be interested to listen to them out of a tube setup.
