iPad to Support USB Audio Interfaces via Camera Connection Kit?

The Camera Kit only outputs USB.  The Wadia will output Coax, Toslink, and AES/EBU.
 
Still, the new Wadia is overpriced IMO.  The Cambridge Audio D100 does all that, has a nicer form factor, a better remote, and costs $300.

Important Note: At this time, the iD100 is not compatible with the iPad 2. Cambridge Audio is aware of this issue and is working on it.

Wow, that's good information, and a bummer. I really like the D100, but do plan to get an iPad2 soon. I have a 1st Gen iPad, but I mostly use the D100 with an iPod Classic, and my AVA DAC.

I'm a bit confused on this, what is the difference of using just say like the L9 LOD? Why do we need to use the camera kit?

LOD is analog output from the iDevice's DAC, ready to be amplified. The CCK is digital output to be converted to analog by an external DAC (and then amplified).

Yes the CCK is the only way to bypass the iPad's internal DAC, if that's what you're asking. Whether it sounds better or not depends upon the DAC and your ears.

Well CLAS, HP-P1 and many other docking solutions also provide digital extraction but only cck provides hires, all the others are limited to 16/48 max

For anyone interested, I got the Halide bridge to work with the ipad using a powered hub.  Sounds excellent through my jh-3A!

I just found out something interesting.  If I plug the bridge into the hub and don't connect the power adapter to the hub, the bridge still works!  But strangely, the bridge doesn't work directly connected to the camera connection kit!  Weird isn't it?

Can you connect Halide directly into the ipad or is usb hub mandatory?

If I plug the Halide directly into the CCK the screen says that the device uses too much power.  But oddly when I connect the halide to a hub, even if the hub isn't plugged into power, it works!

So ipad doesn't really need extra power, Apple has just limited us to certain devices they approve

It looks that way.  I personally don't understand what the difference is between plugging straight into the CCK or plugging the bridge into the hub and then running a usb cable to the CCK.  It would seem that Apple thinks it's OK to plug the CCK into a usb hub weather powered or not vs.  the halide bridge!
