iPad to Support USB Audio Interfaces via Camera Connection Kit?

RHW's suggestion about a powered usb hub like dr bott got me thinking. I rummaged around and found an old 6v powered hub and connected it to ipad and udac and voila-it works. Now to find something smaller

You need no power.

It's cool because this device reports itself to the device with USB as a powered hub, so the device allows it to be used without fear of exceeding power draw levels.

That's great. This will give us many options. I hope apple gets this straighten out in the future. The update was suppose to give the iPad 24/96 capabilities. Have you tried the udac2 yet?

So is it a power issue, which was there all along, or an oversampling issue, which would be new with iOS4?

The older OS did not support anything other than 16/44.1.  We're hoping the new OS does...waiting for someone to confirm

My SoundPrime DDC 24/96 jitter-box works with the iPad. Using it now with that and the Rubby power amp/DAC and Libby headphone amp/DAC from Firestone.

I have updated, and the HR Bithead still works and really does sound great for a transportable rig.  It works with both the (battery) power on and off, although as before the sound is helped with battery power.

Just got dr bots t3 USB hub and connected it to my Udac-Houston, we have liftoff. It works.

Good news, thanks!  I have mine, but am not updating my iPad until I finish my PC migration.

I just read that Apple reduced the power limit for USB devices from 100mA to 20mA in IOS 4.2.1.
Several USB hubs, incl. T3hub, seem to be a workaround.

Go get a longer runtime on the battery.
(Seems to be bad for some camera users, who want to upload their photos to the ipad, too. Maybe it is a bug and will be changed in the next update of the IOS????)

That should be a user setting, like any other power saving settings on laptops.  So much for apple give the user control over their devices.
