The H50 was truly an event with the UA3! The smoothness of the H50 was compounded further into dreamland with the UA3. Somehow the two devices have a similar soundstage. Both the UA3 and the H50 have this wild slight separation that becomes amplified when you join them together. The UA3 has it by itself with other gear, the H50 does it’s own style (you know) of delineated arraignments of elements that’s special and unique
Thanks a lot mate. I hoped the same - to tame the H50 upper mids and lower treble with UA3 warmer and smoother sound, but worried that might slow down H50 bass. Glad that its not the case.
Just to confirm, Are you using the Eddict player for media playback in order to get the best performance. Does the UA3 perform the same if Apple Music or other apps are used?
UA3 pairs beautifully with all my IEMs: Kinera Nanna, Ranko 808, Dunu DN1000 and others.
No hiss with any of them. Pure magic in such small form.
Btw, I have compared it A/B with my YinLuMei M400+ (AKM4499) - obviously the power difference is huge, but SQ not far off. This says all how good job Shanling did with this dongle.
I did use an Android phone to “turn gain-up” with Eddict player, but then got better results from a MacBook Air. The Android phone is almost the same but the MacBook has a slightly more heavy sound.
I used Apple Music (MacBook) a little, but switched to Mac Foobar 2000. Sorry don’t use it with an IPhone?
I think the emphasis on the H50 is on the upper midrange and upper treble? I like it though, as it adds clarity?
This morning I have tried different cable but still cannot use the UA3. I tried with different phone no problem. But just now try the LG V20 again. This time it's working
How do the volume controls work? Is it with a click or a press and hold? If there are steps, are they adjustable? Does the UA3 allow the fine control of volume that the devices with a wheel offer?
It can work with both press and hold, for software volume setting of course it depends a bit on what system you have it connected to.
For hardware volume, it also works both press and hold, going through 100 steps, which in our mind are more than enough for fine volume control.
I'm not sure what exactly is your benchmark for "devices with a wheel". Simply having wheel as controller has no real impact on what exact volume control you get.

Eddict player app is primarily a companion app, to adjust the settings. It's nothing special as a music player, you will achieve better results when using dedicated apps like USB Audio Player Pro.
Have any question about our players? Just PM me or send me email.

Updated usb driver for windows from 2.0 to 2.1, the volume/loudness dropped quite a lot, was on 50-60ish on 2.0 and have to turn it to 70-80 ish on the new driver.. This is on 3.5mm single ended. The balanced 4.4mm have even more volume gap between the usb drivers. (40-50 vs 70)
Cant detect any sound quality difference, so went back on v2.0 now
Edit: requesting a fix if possible, when the pc shuts down/turns off while the ua3 is connected, there is a very loud pop sound. Like an amp switching sound. Concerned can damage hearing, or the equipment(headphone/iem)..
