They are under a metal grill and the case is perforated, so Isolating them may be asking for a meltdown

There is 5 second pre-heating when enabled / starting playback.Does the tubes modes needs to be warmed up to obtain their full potential ?

In case it helps, the Muse Hifi M5 Ultra uses the same tubes and I’ve tried it in the UK. The tubes (and the unit as a whole) don’t get particularly warm even when driving full sized headphones for a long period. In fact, my Shanling M7 gets significantly warmer, though it’s not really a problem and has not affected the Shanling case in any way (and by the way, thanks Shanling for never charging unfairly for your dedicated DAP cases). I’m undecided on whether to upgrade to the M8T at some point, but am not worried about the tubes being too warm or vulnerable. They were originally engineered for military radios and so are pretty robust.Thank you for doing these tests. I am sure, I am not the only one interested in this dap using it as a portable digital "walkman". I have a nice stereo system in home so no need of headphones listening. If I get this device I will have to find a way to keep it dry, living here in UK. Shanling were not to eager to answer how well isolated the tubes are from accidental water splashes, probably because they aren't. And hence the reason I am asking if it gets hot because I am planning to modify the leather case in order to keep dry the tube heatsink/foil. Of course that begs the question will it heats up if not proper ventilation is there. And it seems as if that should not be an issue.
And yet the potential issue of moist with the tubes only covered with a foil like grill. Just to be clear I am not bashing the dap by any means. I am very excited about it and of course I hope it would deliver the Shanling warm house sound. I loved their m6pro. However, this dap although large and bulky still is suitable for pocket caring at least for my needs. And yes I got it that it does not have ip rating . I am not aware of any dap having an ip ratings anywayIn case tusk helps, the Muse Hifi M5 Ultra uses the same tubes and I’ve tried it in the UK. To be clear was the m8 too punchy? Or the m9+?Owning the M8 and the M9+ which I found too punchy, I am also waiting for a test to compare the M8T with these previous flagships.
Thank you. Trying to find the warmest, darkest, punchiest portableThe M9+ was too punchy for me.
