Introducing Shanling M8T - New Flagship Portable Android Player with Tubes

Well there goes my desire to purchase this product.
Why it's so hard to implement such a simple feature? Do they really expect us to exclusively use this on-the-go?
No thought about desktop use? That's just silly. So many manufacturers are guilty of this nowadays..

I am curious to know if there is a way to boot to Mango OS as default in any of the Ibasso's "recent" models (from dx240 and later).
Most of the time I listen through my local SD collection, so not having to jump from Android mode would make sense in such cases.

Ordered. I ill be doing my first review on this one :)

Why did I buy it?

- Reasonable weight and size
- Modern OS
- Open to sideload apps

And ofcourse for the sound :)
I pre-ordered through US distributor MusicTeck. Estimated shipping is early January.

Comparing to the SP3000 T this Shanling M8T has an outstanding value with more power.
And an open Android system, not locked into whatever apps the manufacturer decides for you.

Sorry to beat a dead horse as I ask this on every new DAP and get the normal response from people of it's not a video player blah, blah etc.

Does this DAP have Widevine security to watch videos on some streaming apps like Netflix? For those that don't know most DAPs don't have Widevine security. The license for it is also free.

I like to watch videos on my DAP with my headphones while my phone charges in bed. Phone only has one USB C and if I bought a good set of IEMs, I want to use them to watch video content. I can't charge my phone and use a dongle unless I have something like the DDhifi usb otg and charge adapter that I do have and sometimes use. I just want to simplify things and have a DAP I can take to bed and just watch Netflix or Apple TV while not waking up the GF.

Newbee here. I like your new M8T. Sorry for asking stupid questions but i am searching for a device to comfortably stream from my listening position. Please tell me if I can use it also just as a streamer, connecting to my McIntosh dac via USB cable? Or as a streaming client connecting it via wifi to a wiim pro or similar? Is that possible? Do you offer any kind of docking station? Thank you!

Shanling M8T represents one of our most impactful releases in recent memory, as it brings alongside many aspects of the Shanling’s heritage, while taking a significant step towards the future of our Android Portable Players.

M8T SQ.jpg

Starting with the most obvious, M8T is our first portable player with built-in Tube output. Shanling’s history is closely connected to Hi-Fi tubes, as they were prominently featured on some of our most acclaimed CD players and Amplifiers over many years. So it was about time to bring them to our lineup of Portable players, with a pair of JAN6418 tubes implemented into the top of the M8T.

When designing the audio circuit of M8T, we had to keep in mind its predecessor, the original Shanling M8 released in 2020. Known for its rich warm sound and exquisite bass presentation, the aim was to recreate it as closely as possible with the new flagship AKM DACs, their matching Delta-Sigma modulators and our latest generation of headphone amplifier.

And because we understand that tubes might not be ideal for all types of headphones or music, we made sure that the M8T can switch quickly between its tube-enhanced output and the pure transistor mode.

Inside the unit hides upgraded Android system, now running on Android 13 and providing many years of software updates and problem-free app compatibility. M8T comes with our standard open system for easy installation of any 3rd party music apps and Streaming services, supported by Shanling’s Android Global Lossless Output technology for ensured bit-perfect audio data processing.

And with Shanling M9 Plus ending its production in the summer of 2024, M8T will also serve as the new flagship of the Portable line, while retailing at just 1499 USD MSRP.

You can find all the details and specifications of Shanling M8t on its dedicated Product Page

M8T is now shipping to our international distributors and can be purchased from our official E-Shop.

Leather case providing additional protection for the tubes.
Case available in red or black versions.
Beautiful! If this is lost or stolen would a homeowners policy cover it? Wishing everyone a Happy & Healthy 2025!

I like that it's different. I don't think i remember seeing a player have the tubes topside. Mostly back or along the longer side of the units. Does it glow amber with an L.E.D i wonder.

Is there any EMI protection for the tubes? e.g. when using streaming apps / WiFi
