Introducing Shanling M7 - Portable Hi-Fi Android Player

The 4499EX should be a downgrade from the 4499EQ if I am not mistaken.

The AK4499EX is AKM's latest flagship DAC, they have taken the digital filtering and delta sigma modulator off the DAC chip and put it in a separate chip, the AK4191EQ which boasts monster specs, Native DSD1024 and PCM1536kHz, however since it is only a two channel DAC you need Quad DAC chips and Quad ΔΣ mod chips to get 8 channels for separate outputs, balanced and unbalanced for best "measured" performance. Although this poses PCB space and power consumption concerns, I am guessing this is what the Astell&Kern SP3000 will be and cost $5000.

Any ideas as to why I can't get the M7 to output any sound when in USB-DAC mode? Using a MacBook Pro (M1 pro chip) - the Mac recognises the M7 but can't get any sound. Bit baffled as never had this problem with other DAP's I've owned.

I have no issues with my Windows 11 machine here. Both Asio and Wasapi work fine

I think the M7 is special. It works with everything. I think the reason why it does not turn heads is because it is more an evolution of the M6Pro. There is still that unmistakable Shanling house sound going on but for me it is the best balance of portability and with enough heft to inspire confidence. Loving it!

For me, the M7 is so good that I no longer read reviews and comparisons, I just enjoy the sound. I even doubt that I will look for other headphones, the sound is a bomb! I don't know if the M7 gets enough attention, I think the issue of the number of users of this model lies in the specifics of the sound. I used to like the sound of iBasso, now I understand what I lacked in it and now my choice is Shanling.

At airports be only scared for your undeveloped film when you see the new CT-scanners. For electronics such as M7 it's fine.
