I just bought the M7 and have issue with connecting to PC as USB DAC.

Hi I install the USB driver for M7 but PC does not recognize the device. Any help appreciated. Also updated the firmware

I download from here.

Please what version of windows are you using, which version of driver you downloaded?

What exactly shows on the screen of M7 when you connect it to the computer?

I am using Pc Windows 11.

I downloaded - USB DAC driver V5.20.0 update

After successfully installed. I restart my PC and then plug into M7 using USB C.
Windows prompt that USB device not recognize. In the M7, It has a blue circle and then USB Mode 48khz/32bits. I play youtube and there is no sound.

In the sound setting of my PC, there are no M7 device to select

Also every time It fails to recognize the USB Device, the M7 also do not charge. There is a red light but the batt icon does not show a charge. I have to restart the M7 for every failed attempt Any help is appreciated.

I’ve had the M7 for several months now and I’m still really enjoying this DAP. I keep going back to it as a daily listening device despite having access to the iBasso DX320, A&K SP2000T, Sony WM1AM2 and Chord Mojo 2. There’s just something about it that’s the complete package; great form factor, fantastic detail retrieval, superb timbre, excellent holographic soundstage and spatial cues, and an overall presentation that just has your feet tapping from the get-go. Well done Shanling!

Would love to hear how the M7 compares to the DX320!

Hello - Is there a way to enable charging while the M7 is in USB DAC mode and connected to a PC/Mac? Thank you. EDIT: Plugged the M7 into another port and toggled the charging button on the USB DAC screen - it is charging now while in USB DAC mode. Thanks.

Some set up I am using with M7. The Arya stealth sounds really good. Good buy overall.

.. Love the ES9038 pro desktop dac and the amp has tons of reserve power for its size. Interestingly the amp produces pretty strong bass for a DAP. Its as strong as the desktop amp with dedicated power supplies. It does sound like a desktop amp... lol. Also gotta be careful with CIEM- it could blow up the CIEM on high gain. Pulled out some of my legacy CIEM like the UE18pro - Never thought the UE18pro could sound this good esp the bass... well control and very powerful impact. Always feels like plugging into a desktop amp - I call it a mini nuclear power plant for DAP this size. lol

Good afternoon, can anyone compare the m7 with the Astell kern Kann Max ?
Ive had the Kann Max for 2 weeks and sent it back. Too harsh trebles. The soundstage was really good tho. Also a typical AK black background. I finally went with the M8 and its better in every regard at least for me. Even better dynamics (well slightly because the Max has already a very dynamic sound), more mid bass and more textured sub bass, smoother trebles and at least as good staging (from AB testing the M8 had slightly wider stage). The background is very dark on the M8, like on the AK sp1000.
The main difference tho is the analog, warmish sound of the M8. All other daps ive had/tested had slighlty digital glare on top. Not the case with the M8. There is no digital feeling to the sound AT ALL. Even comparing to the Fiio M17, Fiio K9 Pro, Kann Max, IBasso dx300 etc.
Ive also had the dx320 and i prefer the M8.
