Introducing Shanling M3 Ultra - New Generation of Compact Android Portable Player
Aug 15, 2023 at 3:13 AM Post #196 of 222
Firmware Update Released
Confirm the playback issue in 3rd party apps fixed. SoundCloud in Firefox did not work for me before and works fine now.
The Shanling app is generally working better: library update is quicker, app doesn't seem to crash anymore if playback is pressed immediately after boot.

Unfortunately the battery gauge when charging issue I mentioned at post #190 is still there. But now I have more info about it.
The gauge seems to get stuck only when fast charging (anything faster than 5V@500mA). If I charge it via a PC USB port (limited to 500mA) gauge works fine.
So I kindly ask to report this again to the software team with all the details mentioned above. Maybe this additional info will help them in identifying the cause.
Thanks in advance !

1) I tried and it does redirect me into any login page. Even I try to login to any website it does not redirect.
2) Hope Shanling team can look into it
3) In this case, prime mode is considered useless for me since I to use another app for my music playing. I hope Shanling Team can work on this enhancement and should not be an excuse because it is running on Android. I am using Fiio Music app on a Shanling device (but Fiio Music app needs subscription to play MQA on non Fiio devices). that is so funny :sunglasses:

Anyway, your prompt support on this forum is really appreciate and reason I choose Shanling devices. Waiting for the good news on this

Thanks for info but it does not redirect me to any page. It shows connected on the Wi-Fi Setting after I have chosen the SSID without require me to login. but no internet access at all.

I know this post is a bit old now but I recently had this issue while travelling and only having hotel unsecured wifi available and couldn’t connect.

I stumbled on a work around that fixed the issue for me and the source said it works 90% of the time.

Log into the wifi - open the web browser - type in 192.168.1.1 which is a very common router address.

That was the only way for me to be directed to the log in webpage.

Sorry if the sollution has been written already on this big forum post. My situation: I would like a dap with music stored on an external microsd card. I also would like to extend the music library with a dlna (upnp) Nas. I have an Android smartphone with Usb audio player pro. And I have an external dac. My question: I would like to connect the Dap via usb to the external dac. I would like to control the Dap with my smarthphone (and leave the dap untouched). Would that be possible with the Shanling M3 Ultra? I have tried the Eddict player already. I would prefer to use Bubbleupnp or perhaps another app (like Audio Usb Player Pro).

You can use M3 Ultra as digital transport for your USB DAC.
For controls, it's wide world of options, as it's open Android. You can use anything from simply Synclink connection to control playback from card on the M3 Ultra to full mirroring apps that will be 1:1 between M3 Ultra and your phone.

M3U英文版(1).jpg

Same compact-sized portable player, now with an upgraded Android platform and a new audio circuit.

On the outside, M3 Ultra follows closely its predecessor. Staying at 4.2-inch screen, for the ideal balance between system usability and device portability. Aluminium frame keeps the same overall design, just with a few small adjustments, including a new solution for the MicroSD card door. And offering a standard combination of 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced outputs.

On the inside, that’s where all the important things changed. Android platform was upgraded to the octa-core Snapdragon 665 and Android 10, refreshing M3 for swift system response and app compatibility going forward. Of course, still combined with our Android Global Lossless Output (AGLO) system for an ideal Android sound performance. We even adjusted Bluetooth, switching to a newer 5.0 version.

Audio section is still based around a pair of ESS ES9219C DACs, but M3 Ultra builds a more robust circuit around them. Two Ricore RT6863 were added to serve as dedicated headphone amplifiers, allowing the player to deal easier with the headphone load and resulting in reduced distortion, increased dynamic range and overall improved clarity. Lot of attention was also put on the used ELNA Silmic II capacitors, as they proved to be crucial in the sound tuning of the M3 Ultra, as we attempted to tune it more in the line with our house sound.

M3 Ultra overall sounds a bit warmer and more relaxed than the original M3X, while managing to improve on the technical aspects of the sound.

M3 Ultra will be available at our international sellers in early November.

MSRP 479 USD / Euro

What is SE output impedance really? "Below 1 Ohm" is not informative sufficiently.

Sorry, we do not have any further details on this from our engineers.

Hello,

I have a Shanling m3u with the problem that the battery lasts about 10/11 hours and I bought it a month ago. Given that in theory it should reach 15/18 hours I would like to know if there is something I can do to optimize the duration or should I send it directly to the store where I bought it to have it checked.

Best regards and thanks.

Do you have it in single or dual DAC mode? That and having wifi on even without streaming will drain the battery faster.

The claimed performance is usually only attainable on 3.5mm, low gain in single DAC mode, using local files and no wireless connections (wifi & bt). I found no mention whether they used mp3's or Flac's for the 20h claim, but usually Flac's drain the battery slightly faster than mp3's.

I have it on low gain, 3.5 mm, mp3 at 320, local files usually without wifi and this duration occurs in Android mode as well as in music only mode and single DAC...that's why I'm surprised by the low autonomy.

Any advice?

Thank you very much!

For any certainty you'll have to wait a bit as my unit arrives today, but with what you're saying, my guess is that there are processes running in the background that causes it to drain faster. This should be fairly easy to check as android tracks the usage, or by using the battery save mode (if it has one) for one charge cycle as that should also show a notable improvement if this is the case. There should also be a option somewhere in the settings to restrict background processes, but make sure that whatever player/streaming app you're using is exempted from it to prevent playback issues.

But if background processes isn't the cause, then there might indeed be some issues with the battery or it's controller. That or a bug in the OS.

I am in no hurry. If yours does not have such low autonomy I will have to send it to technical support....

Whats your volume level? That might also affect battery life

Hmm, not too sure then. I listen around volume 9 high gain dual dac and can get at least 15 hours. M3X though. I guess its worth a try asking the shop to check it out
