No, they are dedicated amplifiers, they are not part of the ESS DAC chip.

Good review but it doesn't touch on the software much or prime mode at all. We knew it would be a very good sounding DAP it is what Shanling is known for. The big question is about the usability. The Sony A300 is officially coming soon according to thewalkmanblogspot and it is on the Canadian testing sites so it will be available here. The M3X has finally become available in Canada for $499.00 CDN and already sold out. The M3 Ultra is $675 CDN on aliexpress so probably over $700 in Canada if available at all, way to rich for my blood even without software issues. The A300 is an evolution of the A series and not an entirely new model so I am hoping it will be cheaper and a better option if it is.

The premium price Canadians have to pay compared to the US makes most DAP's way out of my price range and not worth considering. Looks like the M1S will be much more inline with my budget and not paying massive price premium for Android. If sound quality is as good as Shanling claims then you likely won't give up much in sound quality vs much more expensive M3 Ultra. So looking forward to finally getting some info on the M1S. Decent Android DAP's are becoming so insanely expensive that the non-android DAP's are fast becoming the only affordable option

If you think a Sony product isn't going to have the OS locked down then I question if you've been paying any attention to Sony in the company's lifetime. M3X is rootable to do anything you'd like with. Im sure the M3 Ultra will be the same, if not so already. You say the review you watched didn't cover software and in the same paragraph seemed not interested in the software in the first place.

I just sold my M3X on Ebay for 225$ US, and would have shipped to Canada. I bought my M3 Ultra off from Musictek with no issue. The site has both the M3 Ultra and M3X for sale right now. I'm pretty sure they ship to Canada just fine.

1) I tried and it does redirect me into any login page. Even I try to login to any website it does not redirect.
2) Hope Shanling team can look into it
3) In this case, prime mode is considered useless for me since I to use another app for my music playing. I hope Shanling Team can work on this enhancement and should not be an excuse because it is running on Android. I am using Fiio Music app on a Shanling device (but Fiio Music app needs subscription to play MQA on non Fiio devices). that is so funny

Thanks for info but it does not redirect me to any page. It shows connected on the Wi-Fi Setting after I have chosen the SSID without require me to login. but no internet access at all.

This isn't a Shanling issue. I have had 0 issues connecting to public wifi. I work at a company where I manage a team over 40+ buildings and also spend a lot of time traveling and staying at hotels. The public login page has worked for me every time.

I also worked in tech (now manage) building corporate network and wifi systems, and can tell you this issue is usually on the public wifi side. Too many connections can cause a need for public wifi reboot before the sign on page is offered. Also, Android has had an issue as an OS at times with public wifi, there are many documented fixes to try by googling.

I have the m3x since august 2022 and when i see the specs of the ultra version, i'm still happy to have the first gen: the new m3x get a new cpu but with the same dac, same build, same screen... So, the deal dont seems so good.

I sold my M3X promptly after receiving my Ultra. The sound is much better with the Ultra, and some apps struggled due to the lesser cpu, which was also fixed with the Ultra.

Much better... how? I'd be interested in what you and anyone who has directly compared the M3X and Ultra think. ...I'm an M3X and M2X owner who may pick up an Ultra at some point. But then I wonder about the M6, 7, 8 too, and how much they may improve on the Ultra, albeit at a higher cost. There sure are a lot of Shanling options.

Also is it spam when you are posting about something that is true? @Shanlng openly admits to these software limitations lets call them so why is it spam to discuss them? As for the Sony DAP I will reserve judgement on it once it is available as I did until the M3 Ultra was released. Sorry the name Sony touches a nerve here but I kind of like solid DAP's without issues I have to live with when spending my hard earned money. Some of us are not lucky enough to live in the US and we do have to pay a premium which does factor into how much we can pay for a DAP. I love how Americans think the rest of us are complainers when they don't have to pay what we do for the same products.

Musicteck does ship to Canada but charge $50 for shipping to Canada. Don't worry I have moved on from the M3 Ultra and I am actually quite happy with my Sony A55 with custom firmware which I paid a heck of alot less for by the way and no software issues.

The picture at least doesn't do justice to the real difference as that is even bigger than captured here... Really tempted to send the M3 Ultra back immediately

Yes. The ultra is at 51% and while the M3x doesn't give an actual percentage, the slider is set in the middle, or roughly at the same spot as the M3 Ultra

Try to set both at 100%, that will show you the difference more clearly.

Overall this would fit within our standards, our Android DAPs can differ in overall brightness and tint a bit.

Loving the sound and light factor, pairs great with all my iems, Xelento 2 is such a joy as a pairing.

Hello there!

Used to have m6 (Ak version) for 2 years and loved it pretty much but then decided to try some compact design and bought Hiby r3 pro saber but felt that was not enough.

Now have neither of them.

Consider buying the M3 Ultra. But also have the m6 21 in mind (it goes with discount now).

Looking forward to your advices.
