@Shanling so i factory reseted the fiio bta30 pro and made sure its an the newest firmware. did the same with the m1s. and again i got the same behavior. it took me 5 scans until the m1s finally saw the fiio and when i tapped to connect it said "connecting" for about 6 seconds and nothing happens. the m1s was 10 cm away from the fiio during the procedure. the funny thing is i had to turn off my laptop bt, otherwise the m1s would only see my laptop. had none of those issues with your UP4 2022 btw

Ok, noted. Can only report this to software team.

And just to be sure, do you have M1s or M1 Plus? Because this is M1 Plus thread.

That is also the issue, what type of music do you listen to and what is the availability of those genre's and the cost of buying DSD files? I have almost 20,000 tracks, from the 1950's to today, mostly Classic Rock, R&B, some pop music and a mix of other genres. How much of my collection could I even find in DSD format? I am not a classical music listener which I am sure is much easier to find in DSD format. I can readily find 24 bit and 16 bit flac format albums so hunting down DSD versions is more time and money than makes sense. Once you start adding DSD tracks to your DAP library you start to head down a long and expensive path to try and upgrade as much of your collection as possible. Keeping all your music around the same format quality you won't feel like you are missing out on something better.

Kind of like the never ending search for better and better DAP's we on this forum seem to be chasing endlessly, myself included.

This is mostly classical and Jazz, but I wanted to drop the link for people searching for great DSD transfers.

I mostly just use MP3Tag and get the info from Musicbrainz or Discogs (which doesn't include the lyrics) and just edit that slightly when I need to. I should really look into adding lyrics too (since I've only really tested it on an individual basis with a Plex server and now the M1 Plus, and it seems really nice to have). The lyrics are synced to the song.

Yeah, where I'm at, DSD in general is kinda where we're getting into stereotypical bonkers audiophile territory where I think the perceived quality compared to inferior hi-res formats is basically psychosomatic (like, "whoa, maybe we hear with more than just our ears, man"). But up til only a couple years ago, my "serious" music listening was mostly records and 320kbps MP3/AAC files, so I'm what most would refer to as a "filthy casual" (making this a great intro DAP for me, much like the Tempotec HD V was a great intro phone DAC). Massive DSD file sizes aside, it's still fun trying them out.

100%. Audio's such a complicated, personal thing which can vary so strongly between people that my buying strategy is to basically just make sure wherever I'm buying from has got a good return policy lol
It's about how amplitude is presented on dsd as opposed to Pcm. Flows like water. Pcm flows like water with chunks in it. Not everyone can hear this, and you need good gear to hear this, and to have been exposed to non digital music in quantity, in the first place. That's why the discussion is so fraught.

No, M1 Plus is overall upgraded version of M1 Plus. Better DAC, better amplifiers, more power, for many people also more useful desgin when it comes to buttons/ports.

For now we have just the green one. Not sure if or when we will be adding more colors.

Digital filters are fairly complex and highly personal topic of Hi-Fi, not something to simply put into a chart/

You can read up on it in many places, here is our recommended article on this topic: https://addictedtoaudio.com.au/blogs/how-to/how-to-pick-the-best-filter-setting-for-your-dac

- Charging light is on when unit is still active or in standby mode. It turns off when completely powered off.
- You can adjust items on the main menu, in our experience most users actually only end up with 1 page of icons.
- Yes, even OTA update requires card, as the unit doesn't have its own memory just for downloading firmware.
- Our Tidal options are limited by what Tidal provides.
- It's coaxial output, so please do not use optical cables.
First result on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Luochahaishi...Z9QNJ1T/ref=pd_lpo_sccl_1/137-2160477-8660645
Just make sure to search for 3.5mm Coaxial cable and look for ones using 4pin TRRS connector.

- That strange, our other MTouch players correctly sort tracks according to disc number. Thanks for report, will get it to software team.
- In folder playing, you can have it stop at the end of folder, just run of the folder skip in playback settings.
- Noted on the date sorting.

Will report the BTA30 to our software team for a check.
Could you maybe do a factory reset on BTA30 and try to connect M1 plus as the first device?

To power device while avoiding charging battery would require additional power circuit inside. So far there is no Shanling device with such feature.
Thanks for the reply about the case, Shanling.

Ya I hear you. I have 3,600 dsd tracks, mostly 70s prog, pink Floyd, king Crimson etc, you have no idea how hard it is to get that stuff in dsd, the rest is classical and fusion jazz, so I stream a lot, 3,600 files is not a lot for a library. The only thing I am doing which is smart, is I am sticking to my cheap portable DAP with good dongles. Takes most of the cost out. I have set my endgame target for earphones firmly in the midfi zone. I am happy with that. The only real problem is accumulating music, I have a lot of flac and wav and m4a and such, but after dsd it's hard to really enjoy it that much...I mean, I do, but it's a source of frustration. Still, it would be worse, not better, if my headphones were s tier. As an experienced person, you know what I mean. I would never listen to my flac stuff. What a hobby. I tell my wife, 'You want maybe I should start collecting cars, instead?' That keeps her quiet.

Thanks, the battery life seems really good to me. I've been letting the battery drain fully to ensure it's calibrated properly and I think 10-12 hours seems accurate (playing mostly 16-24 bit WAV files, and doing a lot of scanning, messing around with settings, etc) but I don't have an exact number for you just yet - I mostly want to test it with the screen off now that I’ve got it configured and don’t need to mess with it as much. I also use the "double tap to wake" function and I've noticed very little phantom power drain. I have noticed what other people are saying about the battery indicator occasionally fluctuating (seeming really low when I wake it from sleep, then it mysteriously gaining a couple bars), but I see this sort of thing in lots of stuff, especially newer devices, so I'm not too worried about that.

Folder navigation works perfectly fine, but it's not as "pretty" as the standard metadata views, as it doesn't show album art, and doesn't show a "play all" function. That said, you can just play the first track, and it will play all the tracks in the folder in order (and through to the next folder if you enabled the "play through folders" option). Not the most luxurious user experience, but it works just fine.

Honestly this is cool by me and I even kinda like the lo-fi approach to the display - makes it all about the music. I got enough gadgets with awesome screens for other stuff, I don't really need one for a dedicated music player as long as it sounds great. One less thing to drain the battery, even if album art obviously doesn't look amazing on it. Hell, I'd accept an even more minimalistic screen as long as it's good enough for me to easily pick an album or playlist and be able to occasionally see what song I'm listening to. Really all it could maybe use are some font size options, and an option to enable/disable the automatic scrolling when a title or option doesn't fit on the screen. The touchscreen is also maybe a little twitchy on settings that you can click and drag (like brightness or track seeking) since it's hard to be perfectly accurate, but that's not really a big deal.
Thank you very much for your answer.

That it has a similar duration to the m3y (about 9 to 10 hours) is good enough for me.

Blessed fast charging....

usb dongles can be connect to m1 plus ? i laready have dc06 pro ,i would use my dongle if sq worse on m1 plus in case

Yes, USB dongles work with M1 Plus.

Just keep in mind its battery is smaller than on your average phone, so it might result in shorter battery life.

Is there any information on the UPnP/DLNA implementation? With the Hiby R3 series this was/is a big problem, especially track transitions (music stops) and gapless compatibility. A good test would be trying to use with Audirvana, which is hopeless on the R3's.

Exactly what I was looking for to confirm this is the DAP for me. Great sound with local files which is all I am looking for. I love the size and the scroll wheel and buttons, just a really well thought out design that looks great too. Now I am just waiting to see if I can buy it locally in the next few weeks or months:fingers_crossed: I was also of course wondering how it would compare sound wise to the M5 Ultra and very happy to hear it holds its own.

I’m have opposite feelings, I don’t like design because of sharp edges, sharp buttons, I don’t find it comfortable to use, that’s why I ordered case, maybe it will helps. On other hand at least it works with DC Elite in comparison to M1s. But because of annoying bugs I’m back to Tempotec V3 and probably will sell M1 plus as I don’t have much faith in polishing software by Shanling team.
