FIIO KA17
Yes, specs indicate 480mW at 16 ohms, unless you are playing electronica at 115db it's fine. :-)

FiiO actually publishes complete specs, which is nice.

Forgot to post my Noire X as a headset. BTR17 can support CTIA TRRS as well. Hirose to 3.5mm adapter made it possible.

Never seen anything like this. It's awesome.

Is that a Qudelix-5K as well? Is that just in the picture as eye candy or used in the chain as well for a reason I'm totally not understanding?

Surprisingly for the price, the DAC chip(s) in Fiio K11 R2R is pretty synergistic with Nx and the fullest sounding I've heard so far.
It reminds of pricey Holo Audio Spring 2 KTE (Level 3) DAC WRT tactility/timing/microdetail/cohesion...just not as dry.

Fiio K11 R2R really fleshes out the bass and mids without a tube in the mix....almost like Cayin HA-1a on the tube amp dialing side of things - which only worked with higher impedence planars to hold the bass cohesion. There can be the slightest of bass bloom/low-end haze on certain mastering though. This DAC is showing mastering quality variation more than other more clinical non-R2R DACs I have heard so far strangely..

Never heard a more bang-for-buck dac/amp than K11 R2R to-date...I wish I had E3 at-hand to test even that on it, as in high gain with nX I'm around volume pot 33-45 - so loads of headroom up to 100 steps. Need to try K11 R2R out to other amps next in DAC-out mode.

Did you compare Nano to NX??
Nano overall tonality not as natural as nX imo.
Nano slightly nudges out nX in dynamics/microdetail and needs a specific sheepskin aliX pad to brings subs elevation and soundstage expansion (weirdly in one earpad). I foam damped internally to take edge off an energetic spot in Nano's treble.
Nano goes amazingly with Neo2 DAC/amp...like a thunderbolt combo on dynamics. Nano great for its price - but HFM tonality rarely hits natural tonality overall...especially in the treble region...tends to the brittle, icy or dry or darker presentation...it's their weakest company technical spot.

I sold Nano as soon as I got nX.

Hey all, I am still loving my NX immensely. I think that my Schiit Magni2 might be holding them back. For classical recordings I need to crank the power to about 70% on my Magni2 on low gain and I am noticing some deterioration of the sound. I currently pair it with a Modi Multibit.

I have been eyeing the Jotunheim 2 as a possible upgrade and saw someone else in this thread see it as a great pairing. I am kicking myself as I realized I should've thought a bit harder about this upgrade as I got the VIVO cable single thread and have only recently learned about 4 pin balance cables. Will it still be worth the upgrade or should I also bite the bullet and go all in on a 4 pin cable?

Whether the xlr cable is worthwhile is entirely dependent on which amp you decide to upgrade to, and whether that amp is optimized for balanced output.

Thank you. The Jotunheim 2 is a balanced amp, and appears to be able to output a balanced signal from a L/R cables output from my Modi Multibit into the Jotunheim 2. I saw that singlethreaded will only receive half the power of the 4 pin connection. (sorry I have enjoyed headphones for a decade but definitely having trouble recalling my high school physics )

Yes just fine!

I use one as a test bench amp myself actually…
The above reply was for the Schitt Midgard. I wonder how the NOIRE X would sound with the Schiit Vali 3? Can anyone chime in? Maybe wait for the Schiit Valhalla 3?

Are there "Specific Roon EQ" settings I can use built in, or am I missing them?

Have you tried high gain?

Additionally, the ROON OPRA headphone EQ section in MUSE has not, as of yet, added a filter for the NOIRE X specifically. Currently in the ROON OPRA headphone EQ section, there are filters for many other DCA headphones.

Going fully balanced on a desktop amp will yield good results with this headphone.
