It’s been awhile since I had the old Noire’s, but I don’t remember having quite the same wow factor when first putting them on that I did with the X. The X were engaging with more slam and punchiness, but not overdone. I do remember EQing the old Noire, but the X was great out of the box and I still need to spend more time with them.Does anyone know how the X compare to the old Noire's?
That sounds pretty promising, I love the noires and been saving to get another pair, I'll probably just wait a bit and get the XIt’s been awhile since I had the old Noire’s, but I don’t remember having quite the same wow factor when first putting them on that I did with the X. I would definitely go that route if you’re looking to pick up another pair. New headband and pads are a nice upgrade as well. That sounds pretty promising, I love the noires and been saving to get another pair, I'll probably just wait a bit and get the X
And E3 is a totally different level when comparing sound to Noire X.You might have more luck with the E3 over the NX when it comes to ear cup size if you have huge ears. The E3 cups felt huge compared to the NX to me. I also dont have an issue with the cups on the NX. The NX cups may be slightly smaller than Hifiman, but I haven’t had them side-by-side recently.
Having listened to them side-by-side, I don’t know that I would say the E3 was a totally different level. It’s definitely more resolving and more detailed than the X, but some people don’t prefer that type of sound. As with anything audio, you just have to give it a listen for yourself and decide. I ended up with the X because I preferred the sound over the E3. Of course, you can EQ anything to your preferences if you want to go that route too.And E3 is a totally different level when comparing sound to Noire X.
Noire X is very good also, though.
Same for me, and I was looking for a closed back for a simple mobile setup where I didn’t have to worry about EQ.Wihout eq - x sounds better than e3 for my ears
But ears are different
To me difference with NX and E3 is pretty big. Nothing beats E3 bass quality, imo. And that huge, dimensional soundstage.
And NX has more sibilance to my ears, big thing to me.
But that's only how i heard things.![]()
X is a very good headphone. I could live happy with it also. It gives great amount of good sound for 1000€. The whole is justSame for me, and I was looking for a closed back for a simple mobile setup where I didn’t have to worry about EQ.
Absolutely agree with you that the bass on the E3 is superb! The X isn’t bad by any means, but the E3 wins out in the bass dept.
