Introducing NEO iDSD2! The world's first lossless Bluetooth DAC/Amp...

Is 1.18 still the main system for the Neo two? why aren't updates coming to it? It's been half a year, but it hasn't received an update yet. @iFi audio
Yes, this is correct, I am not privy to future updates from my position here.

May I ask is something not working correctly that would require an update? If so I will certainly report it for you.

Cheers!!

For me, the NEO iDSD2 is the ultimate DAC.
It works very well with the Audirvana.
With the IPower Elite DC 12v the sound quality is spectacular.
I have the NEO iDSD stored here, perfect, and I don't intend to sell it.
Thanks for the kind words there, appreciated!

I just recently had the pleasure of using the iDSD2 in Bluetooth mode, sending my Turntable signal from another area and getting very good quality very much surprised me!

Using the Zen Blue 3 and Zen Phono 3 I was very surprised at how pleasing the vinyl sounded at my desk, Bluetooth is certainly coming along!

Cheers!!

Hi guys, can the iFi NEO iDSD 2 come across as brighter up top or thinner overall than the original one ? Is there a siginificant tonal difference between the two..
I find the presentation great on the first one, but need the extra headroom for a couple of cans...

Edit : After scanning through the entire thread it appears it does not have approx 5+ watts continuous output ability but its a short burst measurement, and the output on this (as normally measured) is in fact 1.5watts per channel.

It was queried several times up to page 10 by a couple of members and iFi only paste over the specs from the marketing, then move along and its still sold as such ?

Neo2 - besides the incorrect output mWatts - was near perfect in sound tone and dynamics for me..it just seemed to round the edges of everything from the dac side of things...its layering was also very interesting... on to Aune S9c Pro next in the sub-1k AiO hunt....if it just had a more pure and sharper edge of instrument rendering it would have been a long-term keeper...exterior design very eye-catching also....found it more engaging than HFM EF400 and Serenade.

Did you try the different DAC filters?

Kept it bitperfect for my impressions did not like the rest...all IMO and others may hear a different take with different cans/ears/preference....still near-perfect for the price....draws you into its musicality.

Was there a filter you used with Neo2 that seemed to sharpen the edges of things for more definition ?

I'm picking up Neo2 again to give it another shot...I loved the dynamics/speed and vividness of it regardless of one shortcoming.

Standard is probably the best - don't use the GTO, bit-perfect might be ok in some systems.

Right, I never really got a long enough impression/dial on 'standard' filter and thought just to keep it purist 'bitperfect' but if it lessens the "rounding of the edges of instruments" as I perceive it, it would be great and should get my unit tomorrow...the Neo2 is a real ninja unit - so so lively/vivid...yet smooth - it's almost a contradictory presentation...I don't see anything close to what it has to offer under $900...anyone know anything better ?
It almost has the vividness and timing/attack of Hugo 2 to my ears at less than half its retail....looking forward to its pairing with Kennerton Thror which is supposed to be at Susvara tier ability - in its own way.

EDIT : Got my Neo 2 again this morning and yes, to my ears it is most like Qutest/Hugo2....
Kills HifiMAN Serenade DACamp on dynamics/vividness...IMO.
With standard filter setting vs bitperfect - I'm no longer feeling the "rounding of edges" is only way to describe it.

I'd love to test it next to a Hugo TT2...(£3500 retail)..even if it gets to 80-90% of TT2 - what an amazing price/performance ratio.

Weirdly Chord is - of course - proprietary FPGA tech and this is Burr-Brown multibit but they somehow converge on a super similar sound to my ears and the Neo 2 - from independent power output tests - is, I think, around 2.5 watts per channel sustained output (not shortburst output 5.5 watts as is shown on the retail box exterior)

I feel there is a gap in the market between
Neo2
and
iFi Audio Pro iCAN Signature Headphone Amplifier

Neo2 tech with tubes $1400 and below..sure winner.
It is a bit of a jump from $899 to $2250 iCAN Signature amp.
