Introducing NEO iDSD2! The world's first lossless Bluetooth DAC/Amp...

I feel there is a gap in the market between
Neo2
and
iFi Audio Pro iCAN Signature Headphone Amplifier

Neo2 tech with tubes $1400 and below..sure winner.
It is a bit of a jump from $899 to $2250 iCAN Signature amp.
I can certainly agree with those thoughts! I will pass them on.

I think part of this comes from folks wanting desktop-type quality with some form of portability also in the mix. I say this as a mainly desktop-centric person, but I will admit to having used the Gryphon as a Desk unit and was quite pleased, however as you say the NEO 2 has a lot to offer in its range.

Thanks!

Cheers!!

Right, there has been an uptick in high grade tube hybrid transportable amps as of late - and adding the burr-brown chip inside would be great for a true-all-in one vs stacks and rubber bands holding DAC and tube hybrids together.
Am not sure of your full portable line-up will have a look....am sure you could bring something like that...though Jan tubes are far better than korg nu-tube IMO.....testing side-by-side.

Have my 'Ndangr Species vs Roel Funcken' technicalities/test album on right now.....deep bass sweeps..very very busy mids stuff at the same-time...

....and the Neo2 is indeed very very similar to Hugo2 technicalities...everything just snaps, sweeps and turns so fast like Hugo2...crazy dynamics !

I upgraded to the NEO iDSD 2 after having the original for several years. Do the XBass and XSpace work when NEO is used as a DAC only feeding an Amp through XLR?

Nevermind. I figured this out thanks to earlier posts. Had to turn on the line out volume control to enable it to work with XLR connects.

Glad you got your answer, I lot of our products share this same trait, usually in variable mode the XBass and XSpace are available through the line-outs when in this mode.

Cheers!!

Does buying the 15-volt iFi silent power 2 bring anything more in sound quality for Neo 2 ?
I noticed it is 12-volt by default with the Neo2 and the retail box says it can take up to 15-volt input...another consideration is the amperage goes down as the max voltage goes up...

(The Neo 1 was only 5-volt btw)

Has anyone paired this with the Hifiman HE1000 Stealth headphones? I'm interested to know how people find the synergy - I've picked up preowned versions of the Stealth and the iDSD Neo 2 and while it sounds like a very clean, detailed pairing, it is slightly thin and bright to my ears, and not as wide as I'd expected. It might be that a burn-in period is needed, if anyone has noticed significant changes after putting some hours on the Neo 2?

It seems you have to turn on the line out volume control to enable it.

I purchased this model a couple of weeks ago...and I'm loving every minute I spend with this little DAC/Amp.

I'm still using my iCAN, but I love having the option to plug a headphone directly into the DAC and having XBass available.

Things I don't like:

I only enjoy the first XBass setting. The other XBass settings (Presence and XBass + Presence) and XSpace are useless (at least to me, as they make anything sound funky). I use all the XBass and 3D settings available on my iCAN (depending on the music and the headphone).

I don't like the plastic corner of the unit. What's wrong with an antenna that can be lowered out of sight if not needed? Meh, it's not the end of the world but the plastic looks kinda cheesy.

I wish the outputs in the back could still be enabled after plugging in a headphone. There should be a setting that could be turned on.

Things I love:

Everything else.

Yet another great product from iFi.

Guys is there any smaller iFi device with the burr-brown DAC that will sound like this DAC inside Neo2 ?
I have an iFi Pro iCAN now, and so would like to move on my DAC/amp Neo2 - but utilise the same DAC chip into Pro iCan....

I think none of the smaller units have XLR-out DACs due to cost and size constraints ?

Perhaps check out our Gryphon, it does also have a 4.4 for balanced line out...
