Yep I'm passing on the R2's. I've had four Zeniths and three sets of cables and all have out of phase issues. Also I've ohm'd out all the stock cables and they are wired wrong.

My stock cable was wired wrong so my out of phase Zeniths first batch sounded amazing, I still got a replacement however which was apparently wired right but sounded out of phase with my stock cable, it made me question my sanity for a few days until I got my multimeter out and measured the L R and G from the plug and fixed the polarity to match the cable on both Zeniths.

I am contemplating getting the R2 still though with the discount but I'm not sure what I need it for? The Zeniths sound amazing and even if the R2s improve on that they will probably lack isolation...

I agree with this.
I have nothing against Bob. He is a good person and I always had great experience dealing with him. However, I believe sometime Bob exaggerates things. For example, He told us that there would be no "B-Stock" on Zenith. Now, B-Stock is selling on IMR website. So, I don't believe his claim of 300 units of R2. As long as it sells he will sell it. And there is nothing wrong in my opinion.

I don't think it is relevant. I ordered more or less as soon as it went live and my number was something like 160

I think the b stock are customer returns that were out of phase.

The order numbers are probably more likely to be sequential relating to total orders, probably in his accounting period.

@rocko77 but those of us who fixed the phase issue still didn't get the right sound stage so that alludes to something else being adrift if that's where the b-stock comes from.

In my opinion he uses he same price skimming style strategy - release a high RRP, then offers a hugely reduced price for a limited period against limited stock then offer B-stock. I expect very few people actually pay full RRP. Like bk123 I think there's nothing wrong with it and it obviously works.

The only worry I have is the risk of over trading as I once mentioned before, which was before he announced the plethora of new items.

I'm wondering if the Zeniths phase issues killed some of the sales and reviews which resulted in fewer sales than anticipated. The R1 was praised so much that Bob over-bought Zenith parts and thus the R2 was born. Needless to say, I'm enjoying my Zeniths and really looking forward to the Rah later on.

I think from what I remember on a Facebook Post he had an original run of 1000 zeniths for sale. As an engineer myself I would guess that he's using existing tooling, fixtures and cnc machine programmes for the shell to save on costing. It's what I would do anyway unless the original design was flawed. Makes economic sense and it saves him passing the cost on to us.
