James,

I think what TJ Max was asking about is a "sleep mode" that will turn the player off after a certain amount of time.

The X3 has this "sleep mode" aka "auto sleep" feature, which can be set from 15 to 60 minutes, according to ClieOS's review in the original post of this thread.

that will be fine if TJ Max is not referred to " sleep mode " which you can press the power bottom and the system go into " sleep " mode and wake up immediately.

Hello -

Is the X3's battery easily removable and replaceable?

Also, I'm curious about the X3's durability. I have a physical disability, and I tend to drop my devices more often than I'd like. How well would the X3 withstand a few drops? And what kind of warranty will it include?

Thanks,
Brian

Is the USB port a charging port only? I was wondering if it could be used as a digital output post ...

usb port is for charging and data transfer. digial out can be achieved using coaxial with 3.5mm jack... currently, the beta firmware has an issue with this feature of swapping L/R channel but it will be fixed in July... it is also mentioned in the other X3 thread

Thanks. In your opinion, does the X3 need external amplification say driving IEMs?

I thought that one of the major selling points with the X3 was that it had the power of the E17 Amplifier - and therefore needed no external amplification to make IEMs sing.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Most earphones don't need a lot of power...
Even if the earphones were really inefficient and required 0.1 mW to reach 90 dB SPL at 16 Ω, you wouldn't need more than 15 mW to reach 111 dB SPL. A Sansa Clip Zip provides more power than you really need for those purposes.
